Reels on AliExpress??

Featured Replies

Hey All,

I know I might get ripped for thinking about ordering from a place like this, but when I typed it in the search looking for who had them, this come up $100 cheaper.   I was just wondering if it was even legit.  I have never ordered from any places like this.

Have any of you ordered from here and it worked out??

Thanks

I have 3 Salamandura reels from there. Shipping takes a bit but the pricing is fair. Most of my reels are purchased from Japan because the prices are much better and shipping is much faster.

I’ve purchased twice over a handful of years and both times I received exactly what I ordered. I will say I agree with @JediAmoeba on both points as far as pricing and shipping but I wouldn’t hesitate to order from there again but I’ll add if you can figure out who’s selling it do a google search of that particular vendor.

It is a legitimate site.  I purchased three Scorpians from them. Delivery takes about  two weeks.  Be aware that once you complete a transaction with them you will be sent emails daily on promotions.

No lie.

Not just reels, I ordered many stuff from Ali on weekly basis. My most recent purchase is a smart watch $100 cheaper than Amazon's, and it's exactly the same thing. Ali is like Chinese version of eBay, which means Ali itself doesn't sell anything; it only provides a platform for Chinese sellers. I hate to say this but just like eBay, it has scammers sellers, and Ali has done little to ban them. For example, if you search flash drives/thumb drives, you'll find tons of fake ones claiming to be 18T, 20T capacity, which is unheard of.

Ali reels sellers, on the other hand,  seem to be mostly legit, but I'd still use common sense when ordering: if the deal is too good to be true, or the seller has a lower than normal rating, stay away. Reading the comment sections definitely helps as well.

Thanks for the answers.  You have assured me this could be done.  I have ordered quite a bit from Japan, but they don’t sell the Daiwa Tatula Elite Pitch and flip reel that I can find.   I know I should just get the Zillion TW, but AliExpress had the Tatula for $163.   It looks like an interesting reel I would like to try.

About a year and a half ago, I bought a tatula 80 8 speed for $90 and a matching gomexus shallow spool for $30. Arrived at my door in 12 days, perfect condition. The vendor was in Japan,

(Not a jdm reel)

Use paypal, safer!!

Ever since they added the Paypal payment, Ali is 300% safe. I've ordered a couple of small things that were never delivered late last year, i didn't open a case with Ali, and both buyers didn't want to refund. I opened a case with Paypal, and everything got refunded.

For all you guys that buy from Ali express and others vendors in Japan, do you have to pay any additional taxes or customs charges?

I don't know about Ali - but the price they quote on Digitaka is what I pay...no taxes, no shipping charges for rods and reels, no import fees.

Ordering from Japan brought  a little anxiety the first time, but man is that an easy and positive experience every time I do it.

thanks for the PayPal advice!!    I will definitely use that.
