Are you into swimbaitin'?

Featured Replies

Been fishing musky since forever, but only got serious into chunking large baits for bass back in mid 2023 because the studio composite rod i got, paired with the Z2020 is such an incredible combo that it doesn't bother me if i don't catch a single fish in a day of fishing.

So how many of you are into swimbaiting for bass?

Yes, but seasonally sporadic.  I feel like my successes have been driven by exploring and adding in  larger, 6-8" and smaller 2-3" baits based on time of year.

I have a few, I try.

As my board name implies, I am all in! The only exception is if I am tournament fishing, then it's BFS to get my limit and then the big baits come out!

I love fishing 1.5-3oz swimbaits, glidebaits, and wakebaits (along with the occasional 7" fluke).

these days i am throwing a lot of 1.5-5oz lures for bass, and what ever toothy fishies wish to come play.

Yes,  but I don't have any confidence with glide baits.  I can't seem to get bit on these unless there is a crazy bite where they will bite anything but then its just a bunch of small fish.  I do get bites on Gantarel Jrs, Savage Gear 8 inch trout line throughs and Savage Gear 5 inch slow sink bluegills.  All big fish bites too.  Maybe I am getting followers I can't see sitting down in a kayak but glides have been a waste of time for me.  I still throw them but my Savage Gear baits are my confidence baits.   Hudd 68s specials rof13 also get bit slow crawling but 60% of the bites for me are on the tail and they never find the hook.

I want to try out some swim baits but as of right now all I have are soft plastic swim baits.

When had a boat big swimbaits were 2nd only to jigs. Sold all of them in 2020-2021 and the rods / reels.

Not at all

Love swimbaits. The draw power is incredible. You can throw several lures in a fishy area with nothing. Throw a big glide and the behemoths come out of the wood works. It's bizarre how some days it's only followers, or they all hammer it.

Nope - have a few I throw from time to time, but certainly not “into” it. Still debating on whether to buy my first glide bait or not - lol

You can get a good deal from AJay, Andy was selling all his glides😎
