Absolutely in love with jigs!!!!

Featured Replies

My most productive jig by far is the Riot Baits Lil Creeper tungsten jig matched with a Reaction Innovations Smallie beaver or a Riot Baits Little Fuzzy beaver.  It is compact, but not finesse size.  I buy them a dozen at a time.  I can't even tell you how many bass I have caught on that setup.  It flat catches fish.  It is made well, and has a super stout hook.

Siebert Outdoors, Pepper Custom Baits, and Dirty Jigs are the only other jigs I use.  For a full size jig, I definitely prefer Pepper Custom Baits to all others I have tried.

Jigs are an addition of mine as well. I don't even carry many colors and somehow still manage to have 3 boxes full of them. If I can get bit on a jig, I'd rather do that than anything else.

You won't get a better price to value ratio than going through Siebert.

When I'm fishing and in the most remote and wild looking spot on the water, thats where a jig   seems to perform . I know its in my head but those are the places I think jig. Logs that criss cross,  washed up against a culvert with weeds hanging down , theres a big fish there and a jig will get it to bite.

So I hit some time on the pond chain by the house this early afternoon. Yesterday I was near bass pro. So I stopped in. And looked at jigs. I grabbed a couple strike king bitsy bugs in 1/4 ounce. Figured I’m gonna break them off I’m gonna lose them. All that. So I went cheap and got a bag of zoom super chunk jr. I got 2 this morning! 1 was a good fish. I gotta pay closer attention they hit it on the fall and didn’t realize they had it till I went to hop the bait. So I need to watch the line and plan for the hook set. I was shocked how well the jig laid on the Moss on the bottom but rarely pulled any up. I’m hooked on jig fishing!!!! I don’t like the hook keeper at all on the bitsy bug need to figure out what good jig company is similar to those.

Many, if not most of my bites while pitching are detected by the line just moving on its own. You become a good line watcher. Or you raise the rod up and the bait pulls against you. Fortunately, bass will hold a bait for a while before they determine it's not food. If you want a jig for really heavy cover, the Trashmaster is a winner. For heavy vegetation I like a slither rig. But I mostly just throw T rigged plastics now instead of jigs. Less hassle, cheaper and more weedless.

Thank you! That’s how most of my bites have been go to make the next hop and feel the weight of the fish. I’m not traditionally jigging I guess. Im

working ponds with limited cover. So basically hopping like a Texas rig after casting.

Yeah, when you cast it into a laydown and the fish grabs it before it hits bottom, you'll only feel it when you start to raise the lure and they pull back. Those tend to be some quality fish.

It has been for me. I’ve caught a lot of my biggest jig fish on that color.

Thank you! I planned to snag some of those! I have one of the standard swim jigs by them. I got at a local store. But haven’t trimmed it up and thrown it yet. One thing I like about them is the 1/4 ounce. I kinda like that instead of 3/16 or 5/16. I know that’s probably silly

Thanks! I wonder if Mr. Siebert could replicate that skirt. 👀

Absolutely he can, it’s not a difficult pattern to make.
