Beetle Spins

Featured Replies

Love fishing Beetle Spins, especially in small lakes. Lately their design or manufacturing has changed and the spinner blades keep coming off. Never had the problem before the past year or so. Having to constantly adjust spinner loop to make sure they stay on.

I haven't fished these in a while but used to all the time. Don't know why I got away from them. I guess like most things they aren't made with the quality they used to be. Those things used to be killers.

Really like zipping down a pond or lake shore, on foot, with light spinning tackle using a 1/8 oz. Beetle Spin. Gary Klein, renowned Bass Pro of the past, called them a must have lure.

Good Fishing

When I'm bass fishing and am getting bream bites I have an ultralight rod with a 1/32 oz beetlespin.  I  put on a 5/8" piece of green pumpkin worm I took off the bass rod and catch usually as many as I want.

I use them often. Like a finesse Spinnerbait. I usually change the plastic out for a paddle tail or curly tail grub. Last year I caught an 18" bass in a pressured city pond with a 1/16 oz Beetlespin and a white & chartreuse curly grub plastic.

A great little bait that probably turned many young kids into bass anglers. Not even sure I have any, but would love to try those again.

I too have had quality issues the last few years. I started buying the Hildebrandt jig spinners and attaching them to other jig heads. Problem solved.

I've got one in my grab and go box right now. I use the 1/4oz size with casting gear. I haven't caught many fish with them when I have used them in the last little bit, but I've lost a good handful.

I always keep a handful of beetlespins in my tray but I only fish the whites ones with the red dot on the back.

Gotta love how the price goes up and the quality goes down. They were like 50 cents and you'd never have to replace them... Just put a new plastic piece on after 100 fish and keep trucking.

I fished them for decades .They use to come in a larger size, I found some of the large 3/8 or 1/2 oz Beetles a few years ago , at  a mom and pop store. I added the spinners and caught a bunch of bass with them. If 10 year old girls and catch bass with them then we all can.

BPS sells an original saltwater Beetle Spin version in 3/8oz. and 1/2oz. They are very popular for marsh fishing on the coast for Redfish and Speckled Trout. Will sell a lot of them once the BPS opens a new store in my locale. Also, saw at my local Walmart, too.

Good Fishing

I use them for white bass, but always change the plastic to a twister tail. Killer for them

The dollar store around here has a bunch of weirdly named Chinese branded beetle spins so it wouldn’t surprise me if they’re all being mass produced in the same factory using cheaper parts

H&H Lures out of Baton Rouge, La. family owned and operated for a very long time, make a competitor to the Beetle Spin: it's the Cajun Spin. I like 'em. They are sold at Tackle Warehouse.

Good Fishing.
