How do you use the rage craw?

Featured Replies

I just got a pack today in falcon lake craw. I’ve had some good success with a rage bug as a jig trailer. I figured I’d try some of these. I see a lot about them. And my other craws are mostly chunk style trailers. Are you Texas rigging them or using them as a jig trailer?

I almost always have one on a jig. I also use them on a "Pivot Head", "Swivel Head" ball jig.

Texas rig and Jika rig. If I'm out of Rage Chunks, I bite two sections off for a jig trailer.

Jig trailer, Trig and Crig are how I use them.

Yup jig trailer and t-rigs.

Jig trailer and texas rig. It is definitely a top jig trailer.

I’ve pretty much completely replaced Rage Craws in my rotation but they work as a jig trailer, T-rigged, or C-rigged.

T rigged , Wobble head or Rage Rigged. Mainly the wobble head when it’s hot

With what?

@Joedodge for T-rigging I will usually opt for a Rage Bug or Menace instead and for jig trailers I’m almost always using a NetBait Paca Chunk.

I went the other way and replaced chunks. A craw is a chunk with a longer body.  No sense carrying both around.  When my supply of chunks is gone I won't replace them.   The craw can be used for other things but a chunk is a one hit wonder.

I agree with this. And I have a decent chunk collection hahaha. But mostly for cold water early spring. That said the paca chunk just never did it for me lol

Rage rigged is weedless rigged using a weighted swim bait style hook. As far as I remember the term "rage rigged" was coined by a member here named Matt (I believe) a long time ago.

How well does that come through moderate to thicker grass compared to a texas rig?  I have to imagine it is worse, but is it fishable?

I never really fished it much so I'm not real sure. If I remember correctly the idea was to use just enough weight to get the legs/flappers working. I think it would work alright but it would most likely come over any thicker vegetation as opposed to through it. It would probably be similar to fishing a toad and letting it drop down into any open pockets. You certainly wouldn't be punching with it. Lol.
