Hey folks! Lurked around here for a bit and decided to join. Just got back into fishing after being away from it since I was a youngster. Recently been having fun with the kids bank fishing at our local water hole. Bought a baitcaster to try out. We'll see how it goes.

Bless yall!

Howdy and welcome! Baitcasting is fun man. Even now I cast in the yard to get better. Turn the brakes up, put a bit of spool tension on, and you'll have the hang of it in no time.

And don't sweat having a minor backlash. Having a dozen loops of line around the spool is nothing, and everyone does that from time to time. Just put some tension on the spool with your thumb and strip line off with your other hand until you have all the loose line off. Make sure you get it all, even a minor tiny loop will cause a backlash to go from not too bad to horrible.

Birdsnests suck, but a little practice can even get them cleared up pretty speedily. Don't sweat it.

Hey friend. Didn't go well at first but a few more times practicing in the yard produced better results. Thank you for asking.
