Favorite lure to throw

Featured Replies

Pitching a 3/16oz t-rig on a flipping stick and big line with a big straight tail worm is hard to beat for me.

least favorite: weightless anything. Flukes, senkos, etc. Don’t have the patience.

I like this bait in this color a lot too. Reminds me I need to replenish my supply. How do you rig it?

Due to the extreme amount of vegetation I have to deal with in Florida I almost always rig these weedless. No weight for topwater bite and just below the surface. Or, a weighted hook for places like lily pads where I let it drop down into them going down 2 to 6 feet deep mostly. And kind of Texas rig them for bottom fishing.

I avoid thick rubber lures of this type that look more like a cigar. I want a lure shape that tapers down to a thinner tail so all that thick rubber does not fill the hook gap and get in the way blocking good hooksets.

I have some lakes here in Florida that are shallow dishpan lakes with wide vast expanses of eel grass. Nothing I love more than swimming these through all that eel grass. The bass explode on them and sometimes are jumping out of the water to get at these. A fun fishing method to me. MY FAVORITE! Gotta get that in there or I'm in trouble again!

If I want to swim a paddletail I will switch over to premade with weighted hook inside and often add a stinger treble hook to increase hookups more and lose fewer fish.

Well, my said favorite lure is now hanging in a tree 10 feet up in the air.

Only one I had.

I'm contemplating a rescue mission, just not sure how to do it.

Only one I had, only fished about three times.

$20 down the drain, or should I say up the tree.

I rescued a found lure up in a tree from my kayak. I used my frog rod with 50# braid. It was a lovely 6th Sense lipless crank.

I like the swimming fluke in sparse weeds and lilies when the sun warms the skinny water in cooler months.

This thread was about fun lures to fish not your favorite lures.

My favorite hands down is a hair jig n pig ( real pig). Nothing fun about sitting in wind and rain fishing for days without a strike….but it’s my favorite because of the rush when a strike does occur knowing it is a big bass or possibly a record size bass.

No he's right.

I was asking for your favorite lure that you have the most FUN with.

For instance, a ned rig or a drop shot really aren't' that "fun" to fish, even though they can catch fish like crazy.

But working a walking bait on the surface to me, is FUN.

There's no right or wrong answer.   :)

What lure do you have the most fun using is the theme of this thread.

I believe "fun" and "favorite" are one and the same!

If not they're twins

Another vote for the classic Jitterbug. I fished my first one in the 1960's. Still have a few in my tackle box. I swear I would recognize that gurgle sound anywhere.

Similar response from me.  Teckel Kicknocker.

I have a few vintage ones thanks to my late brother in law. He wore me out with one once and I didn't have one. After he died my SIL told me to go get whatever I wanted of his fishing tackle. He used to go to flea markets and estate sales and buy lots of tackIe boxes and lures. I keep trying one to no avail. I do really want to catch something on his favorite lure.

Magdraft Freestyle.  The hit and hookset is the best.

I have 2 or 3 of these still in the package.

Need to try one.

A good bite on a spinnerbait is hard to beat!

I'm pretty sure I've said the same thing more than once.

Especially when there's enough water clarity where you see them hit it.

My new favorite bait is a Picasso Titanium spinnerbait. They are steep at $15. Got one hung on some brush in my pond and went in after it. LOL!

Been there done that except with a Vision 110.

It's just water right?    :)

Yup. And a really sloppy mud bottom. I sunk 2 feet deep.
