Terminal Tackle Wallets, What's my options?

Featured Replies

I have the Ryugi. It's fantastic.

I've seen some knock offs but they were scarcely cheaper.

Also note that you can buy extras sleeves to expand capacity.

If you need photos or a list of what I carry if my 2 wallets, let me know. I can also weigh them.

I'd love to see pictures. No need to weight it, as I have a good handful of hooks and wieghts in my bag and I know they are heavy as a brick.

From what I've seen they look more or less to all be the same with different branding (ryugi, owner, spro)

Following. I've been using an old Filson Fly wallet as a makeshift, so I def need an upgrade. When I made the transition over from fly fishing, had to do my best to utilize any of the metric ton of fly fishing stuff I have, but some things are harder to replace than others.

I found this one poking around on TW- https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Great_Lakes_Finesse_Terminal_Tackle_Wallet/descpage-GLFTW.html

Might be the stuff for a boat, too large for my pack I think. I'm leaning towards the Ryugi as of right now.

Only downfall with the Ryugi is this review from TW.

“Quality ProductIf you are looking to store Ryugi hooks this is a must buy! Other brands like Owner will need a separate place to store though, because I couldn’t get the packaging to fit into the sleeves. I was hoping to store all my hooks and the cards so I could see which size and brand they were. Besides that, the materials are quality and the item is well made.”

Just snip the cards to get them to fit.

Ahhh, so it’s not a “standard package fit”. Hummmmm.

So you have to put the hooks in the pouches and  cut the id card down. I was thinking it stored the original package inside the pouches.

Ok……..

Actual physical size of the holder? It looks to be fairly thick.

Nako makes one as well. However, I have no experience with either.

Thanks @Smirak I was unaware of that.

Having to cut down the package to get hooks to fit isn't a big deal to me. Once I integrate a hook into my system it will likely stay a long time.

I don't need the package, but I might put a divider card between 2 hook types. A piece of colored index card fitted in the baggie would be a good divider and a visual reference for quick access once the colors are established.

My system years ago was using Stainless Steel 2” shallow curtain rings, the snap open/close type. Use the original hook bag and the peg hole threaded onto the open rind and close. Holds about 20 bags that you can see each individual bag by rotating them. Works for soft plastics also.

I had considered that Tom, but the bags that some hooks come in are sorry. I use both Gamakasu and those cheap Ozark trail from Walmart.

I've thought about finding bags on my own and then making my own wallet though. Problem is, I'm unsure as to which bags to get. I see lots of bags on Amazon and Ebay and I'm not sure how to get quality bags that will hold up for a reasonable amount of time. Even if they hold up only a couple years, that'd be okay.

They still get stored in their original package. It's just cut down to fit into the sleeve. Most packages fit with no trimming. Just ones with unusually large cards need trimming.

Here's a link with further photos and dimension

Look up 6 to 8 mil 3x5” or 4x6” zip lock bags.

Use a hole punch to make the hole need to use 2” shallow curtain  rigs
