Hypothetical question

How long would you continue to work without being paid?

Asking for a friend. 🫣

Solved by Smirak

Will your friend get all the backpay they are supposed to get?

I think it depends on the situation. My adult kid is starting down that road next week. Unless he's going to try to get a different job he just needs to hope things get sorted sooner than later. He has some savings and lives frugally. He'll be okay for awhile. If things drag on for another month or two I think all of us are going to feel it in some way.

I guess it all depends on the reason....but in general there better be a very solid one. If there isn't a legit reason or I get even a whiff of bulls$%& I would work less time than it took for me to respond to this post. Hope your friend is honest with him\themself about what's going on.

Depends how much you trust the person holding your pay back.  Helping a buddy and he’s going to pay you when the customer pays, sure.  If my current employer said we’re having a problem processing paychecks then sure.  They get some leeway from me.  If I didn’t like the job anyway and was already thinking of looking then I’d probably be looking.

Your friend needs to hang tough, it can't last more than a couple weeks.

I mean your friends employer & everything else 😆😉

Most companies and agencies end up doing the right thing for the ppl who stick it out

Good luck to your friend

I think the OP is not referring to a general workplace. And honestly, I have zero faith in the govt paying backpay. Although they always have, I can see it not going so well this time. My brother works for the FAA as an inspector. They aren’t getting paid. Remember that next time you board a flight…

If he has a good job he likes or is content with, he should make every attempt to keep a federal government job/s that can be very difficult to get. The pay is good with outstanding benefits. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet. For the record: I'm for opening the govt. NOW.

My bad Glenn. Was trying to walk a thin line and I probably overstepped. Apologies and if you need to lock it, I apologize to the OP.

Yeah, this whole thing is a little too close to the line.
