Never again.

Featured Replies

Went out this afternoon about 12:30, almost forgot to install the plug.  Bought a new fish finder and couldn't get the sonar to work, white screen.  Fished a known brush pile and caught a 2.21lb Alabama bass on a worm and called my buddy to try and get the finder working.  After spending 51 minutes on the phone I have a working finder.  I know why I don't fish on weekends during good weather, everyone and their brother was on the lake, jet skies, pontoons, wake boats, bass boats and cruisers.  Fished a few brush piles and points and got rocked and rolled too much the be comfortable so went home about 4.  On weekdays I never see the parking lot full @ the ramp but did today.  At least I didn't get skunked.

Christmas vacation. People entertaining company. Florida I assume.  🤔

@Alex from GA  Glad you got your new fish finder working and caught a bass.

I will only fish public waters on week days (except very cold or rainy days) and private water on the weekend. It's better for my back health and my sanity.

Don, Lake Lanier, GA. Green, I don't have any private water but wish I did.

Our lakes up here are like this on a sunny, warm weekend day here in the summer too.  This is why I pray for rain on the weekend.  Not a soul out there.  And the fishing is often much better.

I have tried to become a Tuesday-Thursday morning exclusive fisherman myself. Indianapolis is full of horrible drivers and even worse boaters. I’m an RN and the girls almost never mind trading me a my weekday shifts for one of their Saturdays.

Like @GreenPig and @jitterbug127, I avoid weekends. One reason I like to launch at four in the morning is that most other anglers are still in their jammies then.

mixed feelings here.

I like fishing and getting to the fish first.  I also fish on a kayak, and there is a camaraderie with kayakers that is unmatched.  we look out for each other, especially in the ocean.  I have seen people run to assist each other so many times.

I heard that the last guy that got punted by a shark, ALL the kayakers rushed over and surrounded the guy and helped him gather himself and his gear.  saved him.  that was nice as heck.

It was brave too. They paddled toward the aggressive shark, like the protectors who run toward the fire.

We bid shifts annually. It took me 7 years to get my Wed-Sat shift, and now 9 years in, I have the seniority to be able to hang on to it for sure. It's the primo shift for me. Church then fishing on Sunday, then I have the two slowest days at the lake for more fishing. Monday and Tuesday at the lake are the best. Just me and a handful of retired guys. 😉👍

Fishing at night time can be an option. It’s not for everyone, but wake boats, jet skis, and other recreational watercraft aren’t out there at night.

When it gets warm in the summer time, it can also be very productive. Sometimes it’s just too hot during the day.

Had a neighbor in PA that fished nights. I tried during the day a few times at this one lake north of me with no luck. Too much traffic. He had good luck at the same lake fishing overnight. Had good luck fishing this way, but lost a beautiful wife and child. Wasn't friendly enough with him to know if his fishing habit was the main cause of the divorce.

This is exactly why I like to fish early!!!

Plus ,

I love a first cast, when the water’s glass and your line starts to run!!!

That’s a line from Jordan Davis, country music singer.

Nothing better!! 🤪
