Mexico Cruise Fishing Trip

a concise report of fishing in Mexico while on a cruise. I think it will be helpful for first-timers and entertaining for others. For the first time, we took the cruise as a family, and in each stop, we fished for whatever we could as fast as we could.

We had three stops, and I am going to share a couple of pictures of each stop and a little info about it.

First stop, Cabo:

We decided to try our luck and aim for the best, which was Marlin(Available all year). We got a 30' boat for ourselves, and we chase them for 5 hours, but since we started in the afternoon, we couldn't catch anything but a good-sized Toro fish, which it was better than nothing, especially since it was a new fish for me.

Second stop, La Paz:

Here we could find a smaller boat called Panga. We go after Dorado, and we catch a few of the trumpet fish, yellowtail, and dorados.

It was a very short version for you to see if someday you want to try it. We had the comfort of traveling with a cruise, and we catch a fishes that we needed to travel by air or get 5 days up fishing boat to get to those spots. Besides, I was able to bring some gear with me and that's a big plus for me.

Your Toro looks like a jack. Strong fighting fish. Sounds like you really did well considering the short time all in new fisheries.

Rooster in a kayak is on my bucket list…

@Darth-Baiter No, We could bring them back to cruise and rule is chef going down and get the fish and cook it for you, But we decides it is not worth them time and left everything for captain and crews to enjoy with their family which made them happy.

@Alex from GA I just said what the deck hand told me, Anyways it was a new fish for me and I’ll take it whatever it called. Maybe Toro is Spanish for Jack.

Toro is the same as a Jack Crevalle in the states. Toro is Spanish for bull. They are called El Toro ( The Bull) because of how hard they fight. Fun to catch but not good to eat.
