3 medium power rods…

Featured Replies

I have 3 medium powered rods that are 7’ tall. One I have designated as my worm rod. Any advice on what I should designate my other two rods to be? I was thinking of making one a fluke rod, and the other one a chatter bait rod. What do y’all think about that?

I still have five medium heavy rods and one heavy rod that I use for other rigs. Again, any comments are appreciated. Have a blessed evening.

7" or 7'1 M F are super versatile

squarebill/other shallow cranks and 3/8-1/2 lipless

JB and poppers/pencils

lighter football jigs

1/8-3/16 mojo rigs/free rigs

mini evo/finesse spinnerbaits

Oh yeah! You need a rig for the 4.25" Nikko Hellgrammite which also works nicely for a 1/2 - 3/4 oz spoon vertically jigged and finesse jigs. Thank me later.😁

Kind of depends on your location and what you like to throw.

Fluke is a good start. Finesse jig. Squarebill. Smaller walking baits. Smaller paddletails. Lots of options, or just designate one or both as a Junk rod that does whatever.

bladed jig is a MH+ technique for me but if it works it works.

I use a medium rod for weightless plastics, hard topwaters, and moving baits with treble hooks. I also like a medium when the bite is light.

There is a lot of crossover between an M and an MH rod. I have a loose Hank Parker that is rated M, and it’s stiffer than my Daiwa Laguna MH.

A lot of it depends on not only the rating but the balance, as to how I would use it. A rod that’s tip heavy in the hand is good for crankbaits.

What I do is I use each rod with a variety of different things to figure out what I like it for. A bunch of different techniques, situations, then I really understand what the strengths are of each type of rod.
