what is a good line for my baitcaster? i only have one and am still not the best a casting with it. i need a line that is gonna work fine for most situations and probably be about 15 to 25 pounds.

any suggestions would be helpful thanks

I was just about to start this topic.  I did some searching for an hour or so and couldn't come up with anything either.  What size rod and what kind of reel?  What will you be fishing?  

Guys I had the same question.  I have a zillion on a 6'6" daiwa procaster.  I will be fishing lots of weeds lots of brush out of a boat (once I can find my camp under the 3' of snow)  Jigs and skirted grubs.  Little finesse here and there. Some crank baits. Pretty much all large mouth fishing (I don't turn any other fish away however) my spinner is snowed in at my camp so all I have for the stocked trout around here is my baitcaster.  Any help would be great.  Im happy I stumbled upon this great forum.  Thanks in advance guys!!

Yo Zuri Hybrid Ultrasoft 12# will work well for almost all baitcasting applications. JMHO

30lb PowerPro

I use P-Line 15 lb CXX for 70 % of my baitcasting applications. Highly abrasive resistant and lasts a whole season, but it is a bit stiff. KVD Line conditioner works wonders on it.

I use 10lb on my cranking reels and 50 lb braid for frog fishing and some heavy grass flippin / punching the mats.

For mono I use 12lb Sufix elite and I love it.

You will have to go to Cabela's for the Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft, BPS does not carry the line. Ultra Soft is much more user friendly. In use, this line has virtually no memory, but it is just as tough and strong as the original formula.

The Gander Mountain by me carries Ultra Soft.  Not a very good selection as they are typically sold out, but they do have it.

You want good cheap line that's easy to use for beginners? I'd say 12# or 15# trilene big game mono. You can throw almost anything on it, it's as tough as nails, and it's like 9$ for 900 yards at walmart. 

Seaguar red label in various sizes is hard to beat for the money especially.  I buy it in bulk spools. And I use bps excel mono for any topwaters.  Have heard good things about the yo zuri but have no experience with it

Resurrected from the dead.     But for those still interested, my .02 cents is a 12# co-polymer or mono.  Fits within most Medium and MH rod parameters.  Brand is your choice.  Lots of good ones out there.  A few of my favorites: AN40, McCoy Mean Green, Siege, XXX, Big Game and Super Natural.  Plenty of others to choose from.  Many on here like Yo-Zuri Hybrid.  Have some to try, but haven't used it yet.

30 or 40lb stealth gray seaguar smackdown. You can tie anywhere from a 10lb leader to no leader at all. Personally the 40lb is much eaiser to pick out a backlash in the event it happens. 30lb smackdown is thin! 

Big game or yo zuri all u need cant go wrong with either ...on a 5000 abu i.wouldnt go past 15 lb mono 12 is perfect 

It doesn't get anymore all around than 12lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid. It has the same diameter of 12lb Berkley Trilene XL except the "12lb" Hybrid has a breaking strength of nearly 20lbs. It can be fished any situation and has enough stretch for treble hook baits but less stretch than regular mono.
