How many rods do y'all use on an average trip?I normally use 4 to 5 but some of them pull double or triple duty so I could use a few more.

I use one for worms,another for cranks,another for spinnerbaits,and a topwater/jig rod and sometimes a spinning outfit.

I usually keep it to 4.  One spinning rod for dropshots and mini-cranks, one rod for jigs and t-rigs, one for weightless soft plastics, and one for spinnerbaits and crankbaits.

Baitcaster - Rigged with 50 lb. braided line. (Spinnerbaits, lipless cranks, frogs, buzzbaits, etc.)

Open-face spinning reel - Rigged with 12 lb. flouro. (Plastics, shallow cranks, light topwaters, etc.)

4 for me:

Flippin' rod for jig n pig. (30# Power Pro)

Spinnerbait/crankbait rod. (17# mono)

Weighted T-Rigged rod. (30# Power Pro)

Weightless worm/Buzzbait rod. (30# Power Pro)

usually 6, on my boat

2 regular baitcaster set ups

2 spinning outfits

1 flippin stick

and 1 ultralight rod, if i feel like fishing for pan fish or for inline spinners and such.

I carry 20 in the boat.  I only take 4 or 5 if in another guy's boat.

I always bring 4.  But on some trips I could use more, some trips I could use less.  But 4 is usually close to the right amount.  1 spinning, 2 BC, and 1 swimbait

4 to 9 in my own boat. Depends on the circumstances, and season. If I'm just hopping down the road for a couple of hours it'll carry less than I would for a 2 hour+ road trip, where I generally will bring too many to be safe. Even in my little 17 foot tracker I can comfortably fish with 8 rods on deck up front, but I usually limit it to 6, and I'll throw the rest in the rod locker, or if I'm alone, on the rear deck rod tie downs.

As many as 12, as few as 1.

I'll typically load-up both 3-place rod holders with six spinning outfits.

Each rod is pre-rigged with a different lure to cover all bases from the water surface to the lake bottom.

The choice of lures is not static, but stays in constant motion depending on the time-of-year

and the most productive lures during our last outing.

Generally 6 on deck if I am fishing out of my boat or as a co-angler in a club tournament or FLW event.  Some say to only bring 4 rods, but 4 rods takes up the same amount of space as 6.  I feel 'naked' without all the options.  You never know what the lake is going to throw at you, and I don't want to have to 'make due' with combo that isn't designed for the task at hand.

On a good day 1-3 but on a bad day or a practice day usually one more than I have in the boat. ;D  I usually take 15 in the boat with me but most are in the box unless its a rough day.

I usually carry 1-3. but I'm shorebound. When I'm not fishing from shore, I'm in a small 12' tin boat with an electric mottor, so theres not much room for two grown guys and a bunch of rods. And it's hard to carry arund a bunch when walking the shoreline.

I like to have one rod for each application. When fishing out of another person boat I bring 3 along" crankbait, worm/jig, carolina rig

I usually start out with 5 or so on the deck and 4 in the rodlocker. My goal is to have one on the deck at the end of the day. Meaning I have figured out exactly what the fish wanted that day.

Ideally two or three, meaning, I'm on a solid pattern and bait.

Usually, though, I'll have 4-5 on the deck and around 8 more rigged in the rod-lockers.

The life of a weekend angler, you know. I'm usually looking for fish to a certain degree, b/c I haven't been out there in a week or so, so I typically move around a lot until I find groups of fish, and then I'll slow down with a jig, tube, or worm.

I'll start out fairly fast with the CB, Shad rap, and SB, covering water. If that doesn't materialize or the bite dies, I'm going to back off and slow down some with the trick worm, tube, Rig, hairjig and grub.

If I can't find them on platics off of the bank, I'll head in and look for bedders with the craw, tube, and senko.

Because of all of this moving and searching, I like having everything pre-rigged. I usually can't fish all day, and I hate wasting time retying if I don't have to.
