I've always been an Ambassaduer man. They're not as high tech and as advanced;just a good, solid reel.I'm fine with a 5500.

My favorite reels are my Quantum AC501cx's, AC401cx's and QG3501 Competitions.... ;D

I see the Curado followers are here.

Question ;)   I'm wondering what you all are going to do when the Curado's are changed (complete upgrade, additional bearing and a few other cosmetic changes, with a price hike of $30 - $40 more), and the older models (the last shipment of the current Shimano Curado's has just reached the USA.  After these are gone that's it!),  are no longer availible, come the fall.

Seems like Shimano is going to get even deeper into your pockets  :)

BPS Extreme.  I absolutely love them.

My Quantum 860 PT-XM, with the BPS Extreme running second.

I also own a Curado and a Castaic; decent reels for sure but in my opinion they would be overpriced at half their selling price. WAY too much plastic for reels in their price range.

Well, got to get my flameproof drawers on... ;D

Curado for me as well.  If they're anything like the old ones, they deserve the cash.   :)

when curado's are discontinued...they will go down as a classic.  the 67 shelby's of baitcasters.  i'm glad i'm getting one.  just placed an order for the curado 200 SF.

sorry shimano boys:

Bait: daiwa millionaire 205 CV-X

Spinning:  daiwa certate 2500

cant complain about either of the 2.  i just wanted to add that as for daiwas cust. service, stateside it leaves little to be desired, but in japan its top notch.

Shimano Scorpions with uprated spool bearings and longer handles for light to medium work and ABU 6600 D5s which are my big lure/jerkbait workhorses. Fixed spool are all Shimano 1000 and 4000 size. Wouldnt use anything else. Although I got my hands on one of the first Pfleuger Presidents to arrive in the UK and I thought they were impressive. Not as good as what I already have but impressive all the same.

Quantum Accurist PT, (especially the new 2005 model) for baitcaster and Quantum Catlyst PT for spinning.

I saltwater fish more than fresh water so for me

Black and Gold Penn 7500 for my jetty and surf pole

but I'm looking in to getting a 5500 and a new jetty pole

as for Freshwater more pinnacle hasn't done me wrong its been dropped about 12 times twice on concrete and its still holding strong. I think its a pinnacle CR-10 or something

Ok Ok I am 1 of those that has a lot of different reels; Shimano Anteres Scorpion,Tica Sculptors, Daiwa Advantage, Bass Pro Extreme,Pleuger Supreme and Summit,Ambassadeurs,Lews etc etc etc. BUT right now the reel I really  consider my FAVORITE is a Bass Pro Qualifier in a 6.3:1 ratio. I can throw any thing I want and it never gives me a seconds  worth of trouble. The drag is awesome and I can literally throw it all day. It rests on a 6'6" All Star rod and I would not take all the Curados in the world for it. Just my 2 cents worth. ;D ;D

BPS Prolite  :), got it at a good price with rod 69.99

Pfleuger President baitcaster.  Although I would like to get my hands on a Curado.. probably will have to wait until Christmas!

I love my Shimano Stradic

My favorite baitcaster BPS pro qualifier

Add another vote for CURADO!  There may well be others as good or possibly (Gasp!) better but changing reels takes money and lots of it.  When something works, I stick with it.  On a 6.5 foot medium action rod, using 12 lb. line, I can tie on a finesse worm and a 2 ought hook and make 30 to 40 foot casts.  Thats smooth enough for me!  Mine are several years old and I sometimes think they're better now than when new.

casting: shimano scorpion 1000mg and shimano conquest all shimano reels.

spinning :pflueger pres
