worm line

Featured Replies

I fish mostly from the bank, and was wondering should I go back to 10 or stick with 12? I was thinking 12 because I can get into some thicker stuff than 10lb as there is a lot of brush around the ponds I fish.

Either will do.

I go with 6 or 8 on spinning reels and 10 or 12 for baitcasters on ponds.

The more finesse the better.  :)

If you are fishing around trees the 12 lb test is the lightest I would go

X 2...although I spooled up with yo zuri hybrid this time around to see how it performs. I also use izorline on my spinning reels..

I use 8lb Invizix flouro. for my spinning reels for lighter finesse type baits, and 12lb-15lb P-Line CXX for t-rigged worming, and heavier baits.

Why not a braid?

You can get a braid that is much stronger with the same casting ability as mono.

It might save you a few baits and fish.

If visiblility is a factor, use a floro leader of equal strength.

I tried braid for a while and kind of liked it.  The sensitivity is awesome but I struggled with the hooksets.  I was used to mono and it's easy to break hooks (or rods I suppose) if you aren't careful.  I've heard people say that braid is too visible and maybe that's true but I caught a bunch of bass on it.  Now I use Yozuri hybris 12# and I do like that a lot.  But braid is definitely more sensitive...

10-12lb CXX, or 12lb CX Premium or Flouro-clear

I fish 10# or 15# braid with a 20# leader in extremely heavy weeded canals on a med spinning rod, this set up is beefy enough to pull thru weeds and drag them up the canal side, anything over 7# or so you just gotta down the side of the canal to grab them.

14# suffix braid
