Looked at your photo gallery..

Question....... :-?

Counted something around 100+ fish, all displayed the same way.

Did you kill/eat them all?, and, why do you lay them on the ground for photos.

Would like to see a photo of you and that 900+ dollar combo......  8-)

I am very fortunate (and blessed) to be able to purchase what I what and when I want it without having to always wait for the best deal.

Looks like you just answered your own question.

Geez...

I didn't have the patience to go through all the pics, but the first 20

or so are all laid out almost identically on the ground. None of the

fish I saw were anything special either. What's up with that?

Regarding the original question, the answer is clear: You ripped

yourself off and paid too much. So, what's the point in asking if

you simply dismiss the response? If you are just bragging about

your ability to "spend money", you might be surprised how many

guys on this Forum have comparable gear and multiple rigs. But,

very few are foolish enough to pay "full-bore retail".

:-?

No mistake made, unless the part about paying retail. If you shop around a little, the same combo could have been purchased for around $700 just about anywhere.

You cannot find my Steez Rod & Reel anywhere for $700, if so please email me the link and I will buy another one today.

I said around $700. I can actually get it cheaper than $700. I bought a brand new Steez reel two years ago for $330 shipped. I see the rods for sale all the time for around the $295 - $325 mark brand new on eBay. You do the math.

You are talking to Mr. Dealhunter here buddy. I don't buy on impulses and I always look around for the best price before I buy. Just three weeks ago I bought another Steez reel new in box on this very forum. The seller had the price listed at $375, I ended up paying for his Paypal fees so he wouldn't get burned on the deal. It ended up costing me around $390. That's almost $100 difference from retail. Like I said, shop around before you buy another, you just may get a surprise.

Thanks for the info but the links you sent were good deals but not the same model as my gear. I agree there are good deals on ebay but I would not pay that much for gear I could not inspect onsite. I am very fortunate (and blessed) to be able to purchase what I what and when I want it without having to always wait for the best deal.

Blaine, dont waste your time.  Apparently this guy can pizz further than anyone else on the boards.....

To the OP, whatever.....Talk of $950 rod combos in the back of your Escalade all you want.  You asked if it was a mistake and were told "yes."

This is the type of "feller" I like to meet in tournaments.   :-*

Checked out the pics too...ever hear the expression, "Big hat, no cattle"?  Where are the Texas Toads?

better than a sharp stick in the eye

Who buys a sharp stick in the eye for $950?

Those generally come free of charge, I suppose.

On another note, there are many reliable and reputable vendors who often charge significantly less than retail.  It's one thing to have disposable income, it's quite another to dispose of it foolishly.

well that stinks. i wanted to see the OP's pics. in his defence (even though ive not seen his pics) there are a few ppl i fish with that whatever they catch i take a pic. when my father gets hung up i might take a pic. trebble hooks in my daughter (my fault  ;D ) i took 3 pics.....heh.

i like to take pics of everything.

Just exactly what model is your Steez reel and rod?  You said you had the six foot version (Daiwa Steez SVF Graphite Casting) which is the cheaper of the two versions.  This alone can be had for $350 full retail price.  If you bought a new Steez reel, any one of the four types can be had for $460 retail right now.  Throw shipping in there and you get around $830 - $840.  I still fail to see why your combo was $950.

Wait, oh I get it, you got one of those gold plated versions so you could show it off in your Escalade.   ;D

I'm done here, obviously his   is longer than mine or something.

Still waiting to see this $900+ combo of yours.....  ;)

come on guys.dont you think youe have gone a little too far, with this guy.i think he feels bad.you pointed out his wrong. and thats that i love this place, bc anyone can come on here and get GREAT advice from some of the smartest bass fishing guys around the world.and because their is usually alot of respect.this just makes me feel bad,and it bothers me too read this crap.if a new person came to this site i bet they would be afraid to ask a question, afraid we would laugh at them and whatever.what he does with his fish is his buisness.he pays for a card like all of us.do i keep bass?no. i dont.dosent make me a better person, just different.lets go back to helping this site and bass fishing grow.

and dont get made at me for saying this.maybe im wrong,i could be.it just didnt feel wrong when i read this ,thats all.

please dont kill all your fish......there i said it :;)

Even though it isn't very modest to come in and ask about your $950 combo (just say steez combo...we know how much they cost), I find that a lot of consumers purchase crap retail without knowing any better.  Telling him he got ripped is going to make him defensive (naturally).  When I go pond fishing, I lay my fish on the ground to snap a pic as well; I'm not sure how else to do it.  I've tried extending my arm, but that doesn't work out.  I just always lay them on the grass.  Can't be much worse than flopping around on boat carpet or getting netted.

will the steez cast a 3 pound lure? :-/

...................oh crap guys im snagged ;D

I asked that question on another forum and the solution on taking the picture was to have the fish still in the water, even possibly still hooked.  However the person offering that solution was wearing waders, something I normally don't do for bass fishing. And it was still difficult. I too have laid fish or two on the ground but rarely now, usually the softest spot closeby.  Guilty as charged.

Don't know if the guy is a poser or for real, but I look at it this way... He has contributed to the benefit of our economy.

not saying you have too.....at all.but to the guys who do fish with a steez and can afford it.they make cameras with a 30mm wide lense.makes it possible to hold the fish and take a good pic of yourself.i got one for 200ish $$.works great.i think i have a few pics on here that anyone could look up too see.if i dont,i can post a few if anyone would like.i will look up the model when i go home if anyone cares ;)

  • Super User

Lots of guys take pic;s while Holding their fish...have your camera on a strap, and have it ready, lip the fish, hold it out and CPR.. ;)
