Your Frog Setup

Featured Replies

What's your frog set up consist of? I currently am using a Revo SX on a  Daiwa Light and Tough Frog rod. Reel spooled with 30lb Power Pro braid. I usually throw Rage Toads!!!. Going to venture into hollow bodys too. Prob have to have 2 frog rods though. Can't go out without Rage Toad on.

I don't throw frogs much but have two rods that will suffice

2. 7' Mag-H Powell 705C

I have three setups that I really like for frogs. They all have the Quantum Tour PT burner reels and 65lb braid.

1. Powell 735 Frog Rod

2. Quantum Tour PT Dean Rod

3. G-Loomis MBR844c GL3

What I like about the Powell is that I can cast even the lightest frogs with it with ease. It still has all the other things one looks for in a Frog rod, but add to it the casting distance with light frogs and it's a keeper for sure.

The Dean Rod being a Quantum get's no respect at all, but I love the Tour PT Rods and this one is a great Frog rod. The haters loss for they have no clue what there missing with this line of rods. If you want a light rod, with plenty of back bone, a fast tip and a rod that can take a beating and keep on ticking, this be it.

The GL3 Get's little respect from most, compared to IMX or GLX of which in most fishing app's neither of these two models can be beat IMO, but for Frogs this rod is excellent. Has plenty of back bone, has IMO the perfect tip action for Frogs and it light enough to use all day. If G-Loomis would have used this blank ( I am pretty sure there Frog rod is GL3 in the first place, but they used a lighter action blank of which is why there Frog rod gets such bad reviews IMO) in there Frog rod, I really believe people would be raving about Loomis frog rod. Take this blank, add 2 inches and some SIC guides, or something along that line of guides, and IMO you would have the best Frog rod ever.

I also like the Lamiglas Frog Rod a lot but have not purchased one yet. Lamiglass is all my fishing partner uses and I must say they do make a great product IMO.
