I would not. Fuego = Fire = Red. All my Fuegos are bright red and I like them that way.

Also, $300 is more than I'm willing to pay for a spinning reel.

Good point.  Isn't that more expensive than reg. one?  I own some gear with the Cabelas logo on it,  but if given the choice I would want a fuego that says Daiwa on it,  not Cabelas.

$300 bucks???? No thanks! I'll get me a CI4, and still have a hundred clams for more stuff I don't need.

Have serviced a lot of Daiwa's in my 27 yrs of servicing reels, and there ISN'T any spinning reel made that is worth that kind of money...

Tight Lines!!

Cabela's should pay ME to advertise for them.

I think it's silly for Cabelas to commission a reel like that.  They should have made 50 or so and given them to their top employees.

Those reels will not sell well I think.

Not even Daiwa could truly pull it off. Tackle Warehouse ended up putting those 50th anniversary zillions up for a lot lower than MSRP.

What makes Cabelas think it can top Daiwa when it comes to having a loyal fanbase of wealthy enthusiast buyers?

If any thought was put into this at all, then I suspect that this whole thing is nothing more than a diversionary pricing tactic. Sort of like what Apple does with their PoS products. Not quite sure I buy into the whole anchoring effect though, especially if there really isn't much appeal to justify the price in the first place, unlike the Steez.

Bargain Cave fodder.

I disagree with your opinion.  My Stella is worth every penny.  If I had the disposable income to replace all of my spinning reels with Stellas I'd do it in a heartbeat.

In terms of the ugly green reel in the original post...man that thing is hideous!

I agree the reel is ugly and WAY overpriced! Diversionary price? Deffinatly! Compared to Apple products? Not a chance!

Apple plays a similar pricing game. For instance, they created the IPod Touch and priced it only slightly lower than the Iphone to make the Iphone look that much more appealing. Needless to say, they introduced it right when sales of the Iphone were starting to stagnate.

Apple also does this with their 8gb/16gb/32gb models. They don't actually expect people to buy the 32gb models, but they make the 8 and 16 gb ones look hell of a lot cheaper. They also priced the iphone a lot higher initially because they knew the early adopters would be enthusiasts who were willing to pay. Sort of like how Daiwa prices the Steez reels so high.

Lately, they are planning to launch a 7 inch version of the Ipad. I highly doubt they plan to make a lot of money from sales for that product. However, it makes the regular Ipad look a hell of a lot better. Expect to see sales of the regular Ipad rise a few weeks after the introduction of the 7 inch version when the enthusiasts have started to crank out mixed reviews.

My guess is this reel is going to be similar in concept to that 7 inch Ipad.

If a spinning reel is going to be green it should say Shimano on the side and be a Symetre. ;D

They seem to be on backorder and way out of my price range for a single spinning or casting reel.

I can't say for sure it's still the case but while I worked at Cabelas Diawa made the reels that Cabelas claimed as their's. The Prodigy used to even say something about being by Diawa on them. They were not as good as the original thing and that green Fuego looks terrible but that's the only reason I could think they would do that.

If they blow them out on sale I'll buy one....just not for $300 though.

I can't see these selling well at all.

The Prodigy baitcaster I own is made by Daiwa for Cabelas and has held up great with no problems since I have owned it.

Including a Stella & Steez ( but they do have more fun, dont' they?), and as P.T. Barnum said " there is a sucker born every minute"

I bet they don't sell more than 100 in the entire country.

Since I've been known to troll the Bargain Cave, I'll be very tempted when it is closed out at 60% to 70% off.  Otherwise, I'll make due with my Tournament ZX (I use it interchangeably with my Tierra).

It's a sucker catcher .There are a lot of suckers in this world.

It almost looks like a John Deere reel. I bet it would sell then!

I just ordered 5 of them..........just kiddin' I wouldn't buy them either!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Especially if you pair it with one of those yellow Skeet Reese rods.  ;D

Maybe someone else's chart.....certainly not mine. :)
