I don't see a change my self. I started fishing this lake when I was 10 years old. I am 62 now. All I see is lake going down hill. O well it is what it is. I guess I want the good old days back.

See my profile pic? Those are out of the Dotte, switch gears and drag spoons in Deep water 35+ feet :)

Well another Wednesday night. 14 boats. Lots of fist. Can't believe how well. And the winner is. """""""":"""" 1 fish 1.74 lbs. This lake is on fire.

Sounds like Wyco in the summer time. Go out and catch 20-30 fish and not even have to measure a single one. Most of the ones we won last year were in the last half hour though. Couple specific spots we could go to and almost always have a shot at one that was either a keeper or very close to it.

Went out this morning ( sunday) at 6.00 am. Fished up to 11.00 am. 10 bass, the biggest was 13in. Stayed out away from bank, 15 to 25 ft of water. There were two guys in a kyack put in same time as me. Took out same time as I. The first question they asked was are there any bass in this lake over 13 in. I told them people say there is but, I have yet to get one over 14. These guys said they were from ( lake lotawanta). They indicated it was not uncommon to get 3 lb bass at that lake. I asked why they came to wyandotte . That are trying differant lakes in the area with there k yacks.

Is it an 18" minimum for smallies and 15" for LMB?

Yep, that's right.

Also got checked for a license. Had my state license but don't need one for Wyco since I'm an old fart !

Guys I have contacted JACK WEBB with Wyco about the bass in this lake. He says there is nothing wrong with the bass in this lake. Keep track of how many bass over the size limit. And if you think there is a problem send him a email.

I think almost everyone on here that used to fish it has stopped because of the small average size of the fish out there. I know I'm not buying the permit and driving all the way out there when I can go to Douglas County for free and catch a bunch of dinks with a slim chance at a bigger fish.

The state no longer manages WYCO; the county and and they will not do anything.

It's all about money to the Unified Government, and they aren't going to put any extra into the lake. The lake would have to be an exponentially better bass fishery to truly attract enough bass fishermen to make the county much money. I've worked for the UG, trying to get money for something that is going to take a lot of man hours and money to get any return is a futile battle. I'd suggest enjoying it for what it is, a place you can go that's close to home where you can catch a few fish. I'd still fish it if it were closer, just for the shot at catching a big smallmouth if nothing else. Get out there right as the gates are opening or an hour before dark and fish until the lake closes, you'll catch more fish in those few hours than you will in a whole day of fishing when it's hot out.

Wed night report

We had 15 boats. There were 7 fish brought in . As always nothing over 2lbs. Big fish was 1.84. As for my boat 18 bass, all 13 1/2 to 14 inch. One of the bass we got had a big head small body. ( wonder what's wrong with this pic.)

I have caught several like that this year. Over populated small fish? That's my thought.

Surely that many boats with guys who know how to fish should be able to get something over 2# if there are a few in the lake.

Im new to this board, just found it. Been reading the pages, Awsome pic of the rock crusher. Anyways, Ive been fishing wyandotte most of my life (24 years old). I think their are some big ones in the lake. A couple of months ago I was in a cove and a bass jumped about 30 feet out straight in front of my eyes, it was conservatively a 6lb fish. Now every time I go out their thats the first place I go.

As a part of rule 23 B paragraph H in the bassresource rule book you must state where that fish jumped at. Soooo where did you say that was

Welcome! That was my pic of the rock crusher. When you catch that big one, get a pic for the board.

ya well blue and i fished alot of the Wednesday nighters at the dott and 99% of them sucked even some of the ones we placed in sucked and i tried to talk them into haveing a bass pass format for the smallies and the guy said oh they wont do that due to the unified goverment owned lake and bla bla bla that tourny is a joke and that lake is a joke. why in the world would you agree to take fish out of there and put them in hillsdale. take a lake that is ok and take fish out for a lake that sucks for bass. and now all they stock it with is catfish and trout! it is just so frustrating cus it really is about money and it would cost me over 100 bucks for my permits to fish at a lake thats so tough ha and if the Wednesday night tounry keeps going that way they are only going to have 5 boats show up and dont understand why! its simple to fix the problem but its never going to happen they are to worried about permit fees and paying the dott patrol to harass the fisherman in the boats who paid all the money to fish there and let the pot head and allow all the shenanigans bank fishing just run wild! im done complaining about the lost cause of wyco lake. sorry bad day at work too!
