  • Watched the trout stocking at Wyco this afternoon.  There were some nice sized ones came out of that chute.

  • I fished the Dotte Saturday with my son and his buddy we caught crappie at the dam on ned rigs drifting in 25 to 30 feet of water, they where stacked up from 30 feet to 15 feet deep for about 150 yard

  • Well, it kind of does not help the fisheries when there has not been any kind of fish sampling for maybe 5-6 years.  Since the county going back to its permits, the state does not want to get involved

Hit Wyco this morning......usual stuff.......several dinks

Had a good morning at Wyco. Caught TWO keeper LMB. One 15 1/4 and a 16 inch that weighed 2.3 #.

Don't know why pics loaded sideways.

Yea you're probably right. Too bad it was Wednesday morning instead of evening.

The lake was true to form today..........only managed 3 small mouth that would have to grow quite a bit to be considered dinks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!:-) :-)

Don't know why I keep going to this lake, other than it is 10 minutes from driveway to ramp. Only managed 2 dinks this morning. Although they were my first fish on a spy bait!!

Is everyone now tired of the small fish in wyandotte lake. I stoped fishing it on wed night becouse of it. I have sent JACK WEBB, the guy that over see the lake the sample report from 06,07. I asked to see one done after that. He will not respond to me. If I find the email to the mayors office I will try him. I believe its time for the fishermen of the county to demand somthing done.

I have emailed Jack Webb a couple times as well, got one back was lip service. Mayor,s email is mayorholland@wycokck.org. copy him on your correspondence to Jack Webb.

I've never fished Wyco, but based on what I've heard (and what I know about the area, even if some might not want to hear it) is it sounds like a fishery that's been irreparably damaged by the bucket fishermen, in more ways than one...

I hope I'm wrong, but if I'm the mayor... what potential return on investment am I looking at by taking measures to restore the fishery to what it once was?

Government cannot look for a return on investment for recreational facilities. They are just a service provided to the taxpayer. Wyco does, however, charge a healthy fee for fishing permits and boat permits and the taxpayer or user of this lake is not getting anything in return for the fees. If the Unified Government wants to encourage folks to come to the lake hey are gong to have to provide some decent fishing. I disagree that the bucket fishers are keeping the small bass, all I ever see anybody carry away are channel cat or trout.

And that in it self is the problem. All they ever do is stock with cat fish , and trout. The trout all die off by mid June. I don't believe the bank fishermen are all to blame. I believe on the large mouth, after 50 plus years the genetic pool is gone. They have never stocked a new strain of large mouth in the lake.

So people just need to eat more bass... :laugh5:

Smallies and Whipers at the dam around sundown!

Sizzle and I had a yearly pass for my boat and we did very well on Wipers and Trout but LMB/SMB I think the biggest may have been 3#

Hoping the fall bite will be just as good as the spring. Been trying for 3 years to get a 4 pounder from there this year I came close with a 3.7 (the one in my profile pic) it's just been nothing but dinks after that.

Well they'd sent all the permits in for the year already so since I wouldn't have to buy a permit Jared and I went to the Dotte for 2 hours Friday morning. Water was super clear and zebra mussels looked like they were doing very well. Wind was howling which made fishing slow difficult. Water temp was 43 degrees and I managed to catch 2 largemouth that were much fatter than last time I fished Wyco.

I hooked one fish on a jigging spoon by the excavator but it came off shortly after it hooked up.

Wyco opened Saturday, I couldn't make it then but went out Sunday managed a limit of trout (gave to neighbors as I wouldn't eat them) also caught two small LMB.

A buddy of mine checked 87 people for permit and cull violations and did not cite one person I guess that's a good thing.

I think most the guys on here know Jon (basshunter0731)  :eyebrows:

Glad they got someone out there other than Ku who knows what to look for. They can't catch everything but a couple of my buddies that have worked out there couldn't ID a smallmouth from a largemouth if their lives depending on it.

Didn't know bond was a game warden lol that's pretty cool good job wyco
