We could get 2 feet of snow dumped on us at anytime all teh way into March.  I'd slow your role.  Mother nature is just "f"ing with us.

Yeah she's a b*. But the outer 5-10 feet of my local ponds are thawed. Even if it's just a day or two of fishing, I'm going to soak a worm. I just need a hit man!

I was able to sneak out the other night after getting the kids to sleep and ran into a new PB! 6lbs 3oz at a little lake by my house. I found an offshore weedline in about 10ft of water on my portable

Kinda rough weather in northern IL today but I've been on this 3-day weather pattern the last couple weeks (fishing the 3rd day of warm day/warmish night trend) and today is the target day. I decided

Despite the warming temps and the rain, my pond is still froze up good. No chance it's opening up to have fun.

Made it out for a couple of hours after work this morning. Fish - 0. Broken foot pedal - 1.

Fished Coffeen in the kayak today. Caught 4 fish, 2 on the ned rig and 2 flipping a rage bug into laydowns. One fish actually jumped over a branch chasing a rage bug I was pulling out of a laydown.... not something you see too often in January.

Anyone hitting up the shows? Anyone been ice fishing? Anyone else bored?

I went to show today one place Anglers Int Resources had some BOGO offers I got some Molix lures.

That Ike guy gave me a headache screeching most of the time could have been the poor audio they had not very clear.

Daiwa didnt have the new Tat  SV  that I was hoping to check out.

Went to Schaumburg show today. Lot of the same vendors that normally show plus a decent # of smaller bait companies. I didn't see any great deals on tackle but lots to choose from. Lots of musky, bass, and ice fishing stuff. Pretty large selection of aluminum boats, but not too many fiberglass. Ranger had the most fiberglass boats on display.I was hoping to get a glance at the Lund 2075 ProV bass but no dice. All the Lund's on display were of the less expensive lines. Couple of nice looking Alumacraft Competitors. Also, some high end kayaks. Cisco had a real nice display of all their mounts/systems
Only thing I bought was garlic pickles.
Good way to kill a couple hours

I'm not trekking up there this year.  The show has been the same year after year and the only reason I was going was to hear the speakers at the tank.  Seen Ike, don't care to see ISH.  Everyone else in the 2nd floor speaker rooms I've seen too. I'm sure the booths still make a good buck on sales there but if it were anything like it was 10-15 years ago they could seriously UNLOAD some merchandise if they had some better deals.

No jerky Paul, just pickles?

Johns elgin market is not the jerky vendor at schaumburg. In fact, my step daughter was asking the jerky guy who was there some questions and he was quite condescending towards her.  He didn't get any of my money

That's unfortunate. People these days..

Hows your chicken wing? You going to be back in full force this season?

Going to give tourneys a try this spring and see how it goes. Trying to get some trips planned as well.

I went to the show on Thursday and I got tired of Ikes yelling as well.

I guess he appeals to the young kids and I'm just showing my age.

I was at the show Sunday. I saw Seth Feider in the parking lot on my way in and I asked him a couple questions on tube fishing, great guy. Only spent  $40 on brovarney jigs and some tubes from RTM Tackle. Almost pulled the trigger on a Bull shad, but decided against it. I also didn't see any deals that blew me away. Mr Brovarney gave me a free swim jig, so that's always a plus. It was a good place to be if you're looking for resort ideas though.

Any of you Illinois guys fish Pyramid State Park?  That's about all I fish tons of lakes to choose from. I would love to hear where some of you fish there.

I haven't been there yet but I've heard there were good fish there. I would love to take my kayak up there since it's a 10hp lake/lakes.

Can you put bigger engines on the pyramid lakes? Just use Trolling Motor?

First fish of the year! And so it begins

FYI the presentation was at the corner of Ned rig and Shakey head. 5" Zman FattyZ on a 1/10oz power finesse shroom jig.

Should have open water in the next couple weeks the way things are going.

getting ready for the season to kick off. the fox river is clear. looking to try out a some different techniques. Flipping and pitching.

Once you learn flipping and pitching, you'll love it. Supposed to be a nice weekend, be a good one to get out, teach yourself and check the boat out.

I need to teach myself how to skip with a baitcaster.

Gotta love that kayak bassin!!!
