Maryland's Who's who!

Sean I saw your truck out there when I was leaving. I spent a few minutes throwing at what was left of some mats. The wind, rain and high water pretty much ruined the ones I was going for. The water was pretty murky too. Didn't catch anything.

Went to Black Hills today and caught what is easily my PB.  Slowing swimming a senko with a chartreuse tail (again) and she inhaled it...I knew it was big when I set the hook, but I almost ticked on m

Went to Loch Raven today and caught a new PB.  Scale said 5 pounds even.  Caught her on a 1/2 oz. chartreuse Booyah spinnerbait.  Also would have had a PB chain pickerel but he bit me off right before

Kevin, I kinda figured that was your vehicle. LOL! Had I had a little more time, I would have swung over around and said hey! I was figuring with the rain we got the water would be murky back that way. That was another reason I hit the stick ups. I was really surprised how bad the grass is over there! I thought I would've had a little more room on top to burn the lipless cranks than I did. There were several times that I thought I was going to have to break my line because of the mass of grass that I picked up! The bass I caught, actually hit the crank on the fall on a LONG cast.

i am planning on yakking BH on Saturday morning in my blue inflatable. Yakking, fishing, and drinking is my plan, as always targeting the biggest lunker I can.

I hope that is drinking water.....alcohol is not allowed anywhere in the park.

Just a little nip of ole grandpa's cough medicine. I joke.

Thanks for the alert nonetheless.

Its a shame a person can't enjoy a beer while fishing.

So Ken and I went out early Sunday morning to throw frogs lures at Black Hills out near the stickups and had what I'll call an interesting morning. Around 7:15 I hooked into a decent fish and threw it back in but it didn't clear the mud near the bank. So I went to find something to push it out and couldn't find anything on the ground that wasn't brittle. So I decided to jump for a branch in a tree I figured I could break off and use.

Long story short, I mis-gauged the jump, barely grazed the branch with the tip of my fingers and overshot the landing and plummeted down an additional 4-6 feet, pile driving my own leg. Yeah I broke it! Bad thing is the emergency team had a hard time finding us and ultimately ended up having to get me out of there by boat over to the ambulance waiting at the boat ramp. It was a mess!

Worst part is I felt like we were getting ready to have a good day after that first one. So my apologies to Ken for ruining his fishing day and also a big thanks for helping me out in a very sticky situation! Oh and I guess I'm missing fishing night! d**n!

Oh man sorry to hear, hopefully you heal quickly!!

Wow sorry to hear that. Hope you have speedy recovery.

Bummer TKF! Thanks for trying to save the guy. Holy smokes what a story. Messing with trees before, pulling dead branches for camp fires etc, I have had my fair share of "adventures", getting hit in the head, landing flat on my back, trying to outrun a falling limb and running into a stump. One time I jumped up onto a big fat tree branch, and the tree had huge thorns, and yes one stuck and broke off deep into the fat meaty part of my thumb. What a mess I was, digging it out, basically passed out performing home surgery.

Get your jumbo heavy catfish rod trim it down to size and use it as a crutch, and get back out there as soon as you can.

Lesson learned for all of us, next time just throw out a lure with a treble hook and snag him back to shore.

Defintely an intersting morning!!! Kevin, at least you ended your season catching a fish...lol! The worse part was that as the emergency crew worked on Kevin the fish was able to swim away! Sorry your season ended prematurely, but hopefully you'll be ready by pre-spawn.

I'm going to attempt to get out tonight at BH to take advantage of it being open till midnight. Just gotta find an excuse to take a "ride". Anyone else getting out there tonight?

Sorry to hear that Kevin! That really sucks! Best wishes on a speedy recovery!!!

I thought I had missed all the night fishing outings this year. I'll have to see if I can get a "kitchen pass" to make it out at least for a little while tonight.

I thought all the night fishing was done for the year, oh well way to much homework to get out anyway. Good luck to whoever gets to go.

This is the last one for the season. A big IF that I'll be able to make it out tonight, but if I do I'm going to be over by the tubes. I'd rather go over by the stickups but I'm ill prepared for night fishing only having a flashlight.

Thanks for the well wishes guys! Last outing for the season for me, I certainly hope not! I've got unfinished business now.

Went for a MRI today, they're having trouble figuring out what exactly in my knee is fubarred. The x-rays haven't been too clear. All I know is my right leg below the knee wants to swing out sideways like it's on a hinge. That ain't right!

"fubar'ed" Man I haven't heard that word used for ages.... :)

Get well soon

I went to BH night fishing last night, fishing from the pier by the boat rental. Got my 3 rods with different lures on them: diving crankbait, lipless crankbait and senko. In the past 3 months of BH night fishing, somehow I could only catch them on wacky rigged senko. I landed 2 of them: 18.5" and 16" with carolina rig senko. Here is the picture of the bigger one.

Good work! I missed night fishing last night ARG

It's been a while since I've posted. Went fishing with Fat Boy last Saturday. I don't want to steal his thunder but he boated a 36.5" snakehead in the Upper Tidal Potomac. Swan Creek(?).

It was truly amazing. Talk about a fighting fish!. They are all muscle!

I landed a couple nice bucket mouth but he gets the prize for the day. He got 4 species of fish: cat, snakehead, crappie and of course large mouth.

It was a great day on the water in his new boat.

He landed the larger fish on a chatter bait while I fished soft plastics.

He gave me a chatter and since then, I have bought a couple more. The big ones seemed to go after it.

I had fun reading the posts from when I was on last time.

Think I'm going to try and find the stick ups at BH.

Michael's Mill on Monocacy is a great smallie fisherie. Easy wading when the water is down. Plenty of rocks to fish from and wet wading is fun.

Nice catch sprirobass! Good to see somebody taking advantage of last night.

Monocracy, sounds like you and FatBoy had a great day! Hopefully FatBoy will submit his usual fantastic posts along with some pics.

I'm going to try to give it another try Sunday morning at BH.

Good luck this weekend everybody!

Be careful out there Ken!

I managed to get out on Sunday. Started out at Black Hills over by the stickups area for nothing. I decided to take a trip out to Dickerson to fish the canal, also for nothing. Then i walked down the path to the warm water discharge and threw a jig a few times to see I could get lucky and catch my first smallmouth and got nothing for my efforts.

So I managed a big fat ZERO, pretty depressing...

Sorry to hear that Ken. We all will go through that kind of day every now and then.

I also went out Sunday morning for a couple hours to Kings Pond. Managed to land two of them on crankbait about 14-15" each.

Ken, I was going to text you sunday..... I was out obviously after you. LOL! When I got to the spot, I noticed the trails in the grass and figured it was you. I did get one that morning, nothing big but didn't get skunked. In my experience, the levels are CRITICAL for success at the warm waters. I typically don't hit there until later in the year as well but the canal is a great option.

Sprirobass, King's sounds so familiar but can't for the life of me place where it is. :scared:

Kings pond is on Clarksburg Rd, between 355 and Snowden Farm Parkway. I never catch anything big there but always manage to get at least one or two everytime I fish there.

Oh wow! I thought that place was drained and gone forever! Before the developments went in there, I pulled some decent bass out of there. Good to hear its coming back around.
