11lb, 4oz - My first Double Digit Bass!

Featured Replies

Just got back from an incredible weekend of fishing, where I finally broke the hallowed 10-pound mark!

Caught this 11-04 beauty on a white fluke on a spinning reel - was tough to get her in, but finally got her into the net.

Caught her at Dream Lake in Livingston, AL - Incredible place if you ever get the chance (on Saturday I caught close to 70 fish, with about 15 of them over 5 pounds!)

After a few photos and weighing/measuring her, she was released to fight another day.....

Still can't get over it....

Absolutley awesome my man. On spinning gear no less. Incredible. What pound test. Might want to check into what the line class record is for  AL. Awesome fish.

Thanks, man....It was 10 pound Fluorocarbon....

Ironically, I spent most of the day using Baitcasters with 15 or 17 pound test - was having a great morning, catching bunch of 3-5 pounders, so I thought I'd "change it up" with something a bit lighter.....Of course, that's when Big Bertha struck! Luckily, the line held......There was a TON of timber, so I'm very lucky she didn't get me wrapped up. I'll take it!

That's a beautiful fish.  Congratulations!

Congrats Ben, beautiful girl there!  Sounds like a great weekend!!!

Awesome!  Has your heart returned to your chest yet?!

I'll never forget the moment my first double digit bass broke the surface for the first time and my heart felt like it was going to come out my mouth.

Congrats bro!

nice fish, I'm still waiting to get a double digit bass

Thanks, folks....Yeah, still can't get over it. Was an incredible few minutes that I won't ever forget. After she jumped the first time, and I saw her mailbox-sized head, my heart was pounding like crazy, hoping to get her in. I knew it would be tough, considering the thin rod and spinning reel I was using, plus the place has a TON of timber.....Just got lucky to get her into the net.

What an experience......

Nice fish.

(Hey, don't you worry for your safety wearing that Longhorns hat down there in Tide country?)

Again...nice catch.

Excellent  ;)

Dude, you post right after my post just shadows it big time!!  Its all good though  ;D great catch and what a day 70 fish!  That 250 bucks was worth it!

My neighbor caught his only double digit bass at that same lake I recall.

Great catch!

WOW!

                                   CONGRATULATIONS!

Great job. Thats a nice fish. Very rare that you catch big fish on flukes like that. I have caught 4-5 LB bass on flukes every so often but an 11 LBer... thats insane.

Awesome..Awesome Fish! Sounds like you had a dream-day out on the water. Congrats!

Also, that's a great photo.

That is a great looking fish.

What is up with the rules at that place though?

Fishing Rules:

No Live Bait Fishing, No Night Fishing, ALL Fishing must be from boat, No Bank Fishing, No Wide Gap Hooks, No Braided Line, No Sinking Soft Plastic Baits (example: Sinko's) No Littering in Lake, including cigarette butts.

ALL Fish Must be Released.

BTW - if you could take a peep at my bass photo posted in this same forum that would be great - now that I look at your photo, I am wondering if my catch was not bigger than my guess (we forgot the scales that day) and have have very little experience with these big bass - tell me what you think.
