I'm going on vacation for a week, and by what the weather says, we are in for a few days of rain.

So, what r some things i should try when it starts to rain, or there are dark clouds overhead?

I've heard to do topwater when it rains, but i have never really tried it so not sure if its true or not.

Lets see.....Try vacationing when it's not the rainy season.  I like the movies when it's raining out.  Watch t.v, workout, cook a nice meal but most of all, I love sleeping in the rain.

I caught a nice 4 lb LMB up in PA in the rain using a clear Zara Spook. I would give topwater a try; couldn't hurt.

When its overcast/rainy i tend to get more strikes with a brighter colored bait. (Firetiger, chartreuse, etc.)

The bass do not mind getting wet only the angler does  

Put on rain gear and keep going.

Keep you rod tip lower in lightn ing...

The bass are already wet!

Fishing the same lures you would at that time of day is fine,

but cloudy skies or rain opens the opportunity to fish "low-light"

lures, too. Topwater, jerkbaits and buzzbaits are some additional

options.

For some reason whenever it starts raining, I will go to my spinnerbait rig and I always have luck with it.  It's more of a confidence thing than anything, but it works!  

SB always seem to work well when the weather is raw.

when it starts raining I just go to the bar just kidding I'll start throwing a white buzzbait or a popper they always work for me

North Face Gore-Tex clothing is the only thing I add to the equation in rain.  Other than that, it's fishing as normal.

The fish are already wet, so they don't mind if it's starts to rain.  Actually, I prefer to fish in lite to moderate rain during the summer then have to contend with the blazing sun, heat, and humidity by mid day on. All of which drives the fish deep into the weeds and generally shuts the bite down till dusk when the bite usually picks up

The rain tends to obscure the fishes ability to see our boats and us, so we can move in closer. The Bass tend to become more active and will chase topwater, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, Jerkbaits, and Buzzbaits.  I tend to NOT work any stationary plastics like a drop shot or Shaky Head, but would offer up wt'd plastics worked along a weed line or ledge.

 As for colors, I tend to go darker as the light penetration would be less. Don't worry though, the Bass can see your dark colored lures just fine.

  However, the golden rule that we used last week is that thunder is ok, but the 1st sign of lightning, and we get our butts off the water ASAP till the storm passes.

Great reply Joel- the only thing that i would add is that i like solid-painted cranks (no chrome, gold, or partially clear).White or chartruese with a black back work best for me in the rain. Also, gold would be my blade color for spnrb8s. Get off the water even if lightning can be seen a few miles away...

Same for me.  Always throwing a spinnerbait in the rain.

buzzbaits are good but make sure its not too small if its raning, also one of my favorites for rain is a pumpkin and chartruse ZOOM lizard, yo-yo it around structure when its raining under over-hanging trees, i get alot of hits on that in the rain =)
