For me, it would have to be deep cranking.  I have a lot more faith in c-rigging/dropshot/shakeyhead than wearing myself out trying to winch one of those things around for half a day.  I know, I'm missing the boat (and probably fish), but I can't help it.  Anybody else?

I can't say I have a technique that I loathe.  I have a couple that I'm not that good at but that's my own fault.   

Carolina rigs.  I'd rather stick a fork in my eye than fish this.  I'll do it if I must, but it usually means I'm lost.

Lipless crank, because each time I go out I will lose at least 3...haha! but hey, they do catch fish. ;D

Split shotting or other drifting techniques.  I will never do it when by myself but sometimes have to when fishing with friends.

Cranking a swimbait, any swimbait. No confidence at all.

Vertical jigging. I really get bored with it.

Bottom hugging soft plastics and jigs even thiough I catch a bunch of fish by doing it but still not my favorite way to fish.

Using Live Bait.

Senkos and jigs for me. I know both are great baits and catch lots of fish, but they just don't float my boat.

And a (Dis)Honorable mention - like J Francho - I'm not a big fan of Carolina rigs either...

Dropshotting.  All I ever catch is dinks.  Its not worth my time.

This is not a typical bass fishing technique, but I loathe people who fish with those big huge round red and white bobbers.  They throw them out and watch them for hours at a time waiting for a fish to pull them under.  I always feel like telling them their bobber is too big and more than likely the fish is going to eat their bait before they even knew the fish was there.  I especially don't like it when I see parents teaching their kids to fish with one of those things.  The kids will lose interest because they won't detect the bites.  The kids will not like to fish because they don't catch anything.   

The overuse of the term "finesse"

Kind of agree with RW...anything that remotely smacks of finesse is absolutely a last resort and I have be down quite a few fish before I'll even consider making that adjustment.  Fortunately for me, Mississippi River Smallies can almost always be caught without having to resort to finesse tactics.

1. Carolina Rigs - trashed terminal tackle last year. Thank goodness I never bought a dedicated rod/reel for this technique.

2. Drop Shot - very little terminal tackle left and soft plastics. Will not buy anything for this technique in the future.

3. Swimbaits

A. Soft hollow belly - still working through various Shadilicious sizes. Will not buy anymore, regardless of price.

B. Hard bodied - still have a handful of BBZ's. I wish the bass liked the looks more than me.

C-Rig. Blah.

Spinnerbaits. I just don't get them man. I can slam fish on any other technique except on spinnerbaits.

Bed fishing.

I love sight fishing in deep water- but somthing turns me off bed fishing in very shallow water for bedding bass.  Only in desperate times will I do it.

Although, One of my favorite strikes is when a I actually see a fish nail my bait-

Well then,  When we fish together at KY lake I'm going to throw a small jig with a small trailer.  Just for you. ;D

I don't know if this is considered a "technique"....

But I would feel like an absolute goof ball, who had somehow, accidentally, become part of the crowd >

.....If I were to sit up on the front of an actual high performance bass boat, and just blindly cast down a bank ! .....and I don't care what I was throwing.

Or to put it another way, to fish like a normal person....

Using Live Bait.

I know, huh. I'm getting to be more and more that way too. Artificial lures usually just make it so much easier to catch the big ones Call me lazy.... or maybe, it's just that I'm trying to maximize my odds. But nowadays, for me, its #1 swimbaits, #2 soft plastics for sight fishing (the exact lure is not that critical), and #3 live bait (usually crawlers, because they are easy to keep with me), in that order. Don't get me wrong, I still love to use live bait when and where it gives me the best odds for a monster, but I only find that to be about 10% to 20% of the time.

PS, For those of you who said you hate finnesse fishing, even if you thought you were okay with live bait fishing, I'd say, forget about. It's probably way closer to finnesse fishing with artificials, than you ever realized.... least wise, to do it correctly.

I guess I should qualify that what I dislike about the term finesse fishing is the view that it just means fishing a smaller bait.

Finesse = subtlety and skill
