Just wondering what is the lightest weight/lure you have thrown with a BC. I have a light rod with an XF tip and I am working on throwing an 1/8oz jig. Much to my surprise, once I got the reel adjusted (5 out of 6 breaks on) I could throw it fairly far.

Weightless 7.5" Culprit Original worm. I prefer to throw that stuff on a spinning reel though.

3/16ths shallow shad rap on an Ardent C400 and M action rod.

Crappie tube with a 1/16oz jighead. It was with a pixy spooled with 4lb copoly on a 6'2"M carrot stix gold. Didn't get much distance out of it but I got set to cast it.

I can toss a 1/12oz SK Bitsy Minnow 35-40 feet on my Pinnacle BC & 7' Med Fast SMOKE rod

I've fished a 1/8 shakeyhead a decent amount on a baitcaster. I'd rather fish it on a spinning rod but if I have to go to a little heavier line because of cover I'd rather use a BC.

A crankbait designed to catch crappie.

Usually don't go much lighter than a weightless fluke. But when in a bind, and with only one combo I've been known to go alittle lighter....

Just for fun, I used a small Beetle Spin on a 7' M/M cranking stick. Caught a few fish on it, too.

Probably about a 1/6 oz. spoon, but it was with an 11' light power trout rod, and an Alphas Ito Ai reel spooled with 8# line.

I routinely toss weightless Trick Worms with 2/0 offset or 3/0 EWG hooks (either way, it weighs about 1/4 oz) with my Supercaster 800SX.

If I need to toss anything lighter than that, I'll switch to spinning gear.

FWIW, I've also tossed 1/8 oz shaky heads with it, but by the time you add up the weight of the jighead and the weight of the worm you're actually in the 1/4-3/8 oz range which should be a fairly easy load for any modern baitcaster. The same can be said for weightless Senkos and flukes.

ive done that on my carbonlite, but i've thrown a #2 mepps comet mino and a #1 aglia dressed and non dressed with the same rod and reel with #10 trilene. shoulda seen those panfish flying through the water on the way to me with this set up, damndest thing you've ever witnessed. i would not recommend this though i only did it becus i left my ultralight gear at home, there was very little casting distance with this set up

Most of my fishing experience has been in saltwater, so I own a plethora of baitcasting/conventonal tackle.

All the same, I intentionally restricted my freshwater arsenal to "spinning gear".

To my mind, the need for a revolving-drum winch in freshwater, has never been confirmed.

Lightest lure?

No matter what the lightest lure might be cast on baitcasting gear, the same lure

can be cast significantly farther on spinning tackle, and without any professional overruns

Unweighted flukes are probably the lightest I go, less than that calls for my spinning gear.

I've thrown a 1/16 oz. crappie jig w/ my Alphas Type F on 10 lb. braid. It was mounted on a custom rod built on a 7 ft. light/moderateSC-III St Croix blank. But to be fair, it has dry ceramic hybrid ABEC 9's for the spool bearings and the spool is a red I'ze spool. I can throw a weightless senko about 80 ft. w/ that reel, of course on a different rod! But none of this was into the wind", to quote another poster here.
