So What Happened To All The Carrot Stix

  1. 1. do you like your carrot stick rods

I admit I bought into the hype and picked one up when they came out. it was a nice rod till it broke 2 weeks after I got it. mine snapped while trying to rip a spinner bait out of a clump of floating millfoil, not a big clump either. Cabelas let me return it and I ended up getting a St.Croix Avid and $30 back. (I had the gold series)

well after not hearing anything about them for a good while I was wondering how they have held up and if anyone still loves them like they did 2 years ago.

I've had a gold for almost 3 years that I use for shallow cranks. It has been fished hard and other than the paint chipping and the tip guide grooving a bit, I haven't had any major problems, and no problems horsing in an 8lb drum or any of the 3-5lbers I caught at Guntersville in April. I really like them, in fact, I bought two more golds when TW clearanced them and have a new Wild spinning rod. I've never been concerned with the build quality, other than the guides which seems to have been corrected on the later and newer models. Mine will stay in rotation until they break, I've never had second thoughts about them, even after all the stories. Quality issues happen with every rod maker, especially on first runs, you don't hear about Dobyns problems much anymore but the first run champions had lots of breakage issues. Now they make a mighty fine rod. I really like the golds for moving baits abd the wild is a great rod for the price.

I bought their jig rod two years ago and it broke the next day. Not on the tip either. 18 inches up the shaft from the handle. I was just setting the hook on a three pounder.

I never bought one mainly because they're as ugly as sin. I have a buddy who swears by them, though.

I bought one. Use it a couple of times and didn't like it a bit. Color is too bright, the ring guides are huge for a baicaster. Now it's part of my collection in the garage collecting dust.

If I may ask, How long did you use it for and did you like or have any problems with the one? To this day has it been used since becoming a back up?
