Big O Went Swimming!

Featured Replies

And I got her in too biggrin.gif The "Big Mouth" was the Gal that made me to go swimming with her and the other was later after I had dried off a bit biggrin3.gif The Jig and Lobster is still my main set up but the fish are scattered so Flippin/Pitchin and Football presentations are both needed to entice the bite! Was using the Siebert Outdoors1oz Big O Football jig again and had to go to a 1oz Hack Attack or Oldham Flippin jig. Needed the heavier weight to get thru the thick brush and to the bottom on the Pitch. Helps me to cover water faster and locate the bigger bite sooner. I don't have any of Mikes 1oz brush jigs to ck out as of yet... But I've ordered a few of those too :)

Broke a rod on a hook set directly below the reel, a place that I've never seen before... Lost the fish and almost the reel too whistle.gif I might have been a little too aggressive on that one laugh.gif

Hope y'all are getting on the water too... and not unnecessarily in it like I was :P

I think I'm going to shun you at the next road trip. Do you know what those fish you catch do to my self esteem?

This is why I don't post the pics of the dinks I catch.

That's what I was thinking. I really want to try one of them but not if they're going to do that  Of course unless I stick a big catfish I won't be setting into anything like that around here! :D

Yes it was a St Croix Rage Rod and I have 4 others that I've put thru the same abuse and I've since over-tested in the same area, they've performed flawlessly . I admit, my rods take a beating plus from 50 to 80lb braid in the trees. I think it was caused from rough handling... or a size 14 shoe dancing on the deck :D

Some big bass fisherman spend their whole lives chasing 100 bass over 10 lbs. You must have close to 100 this year alone!

i want to hear about the 2012 rage rod breaking at the reelseat was that because your using braid and it was suck a hoss fish or what do you think about the new rods cus i just bought one tonight?

I'm 6'4" and 230 lbs. I was using the new Suffix "832" braid in 50lb test... Was pitching heavy brush so the pitch was rarely over 15ft from the boat and in approximately 12 ft water. As soon as the jig n Lobster touched the bottom, the line jumped and I spun the handle and ROARED :D

I have broke too many rods when flipping/pitching, and on the hook set as well, but never in that exact area and I can never blame it on the rod quality  . In those conditions, I go to line and rod breaking strength immediately to clear the fish from possible obstructions all the way to the boat. I call it "Close quarters Combat" with a FISH :) All of the other 4 identical rods have been awesome and get the same treatment... heck I've ordered 4 more to finish off my deck. I think you're gonna like it A LOT
