This is a brown fish ( Cubera Snapper).....this one is a dink, they go over a 100#

I know you can differentiate the male and female of the salmonoids by the jaw. Extends past the eye it's a male if it doesn't it's a female. Would you or anyone else know if that applies to other fish species?

Some yes, others no. Some, there's no physical difference.

I don't use it for our trout. I go be mouth shape, body shape, as well as mouth to tell, outside of the spawning runs. During the spawn, the kype jaw is a tell tale sign it's a male.

SirSnook, you're right! My brother-in-laws boat is a blackfin that fish, was a bluefin...210lbs

00mod, 4th pic is a wahoo, not cuda, they look similar but the markings and teeth are different.

Sir Snook -- that Triggerfish looks like the trumpetfish I caught in Hawaii.

Pretty sure that's what he meant- triggers are a much different fish.
