I just heard Jose Wejebe, the host of a fishing show on the Outdoor Channel, died Friday when he crashed his single-engine plane in a field near Everglades in Florida..

His plane had just taken off from Everglades Airpark around 4:40 p.m. and it crash landed in a field just off the runway,” said Jamie Mosbach, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office.

RIPJose from myself and Fishingcowboy. We both loved watching the Spanish Fly.
I was told that when I set the hook, I'd better have a bass or  it's lips attached.

What a shame. I used to watch his show and always liked the guy. Deepest sympathy to his family.
I went on a diet, swore off drinking and heavy eating, and in 14 days I lost two weeks---Joe E. Lewis

I miss his show, he was one of the best on ESPN. Godbless him.
The fish are out there just waiting for you to throw the right lure along with the correct presentation so why are you still here?

Absolutely tragic.

Never met the guy, but always had a feeling that I would -- I guess I won't get the chance now.

RIP Jose.

Man I'm honestly bummed to hear that. He had one of the few saltwater shows I enjoyed. Anyone know how long Spanish fly was on the air? Gotta be 15-20 years.
