Got out to the Big O yesterday afternoon until dark fishing with South FLA's buddy Justin. South FLA & Piscicidal were fishing together in Roberts other boat. I got to ride in the new bullet which was a pretty stable fishing platform even at speeds over 80 mph under Justins competent driving skills. We set up and started fishing. I knew it was going to be a good day when my first cast with a swim jig barely hit the water & was smashed by a 4lber . We started catching fish immediately. After it started to slow on the jig I decided to try a popping frog. Robert (South FLA) had schooled me with a spro poping frog the last time out. After watching him catch numerous fish I finally relented & borrowed one of his frogs & quickly had 3 fish before dark set in. Next day I went out & bought some new frogs. I was ready now. Had my best day so far this year for quality & quanity. Caught these two on back to back casts with the frog. Special thanks to Justin for taking me out & to Robert for schooling me on the frog.

Way to go, Dwight. Nice to see you out there and I'm glad you caught em up.

I've been on the other end of a "spro schooling" by Robert and a "rocket ride" by Justin, myself, so I know exactly where you're coming from...

Nice fish Dwight, Congrats.

That boat ride sounded like it was pretty intense as well.

I knew it was a matter of time before you hooked into some Hawgs Dwight!

I have been trying to get Dwight on some better quality fish, but he finally hooked up after some less than stellar attempts. The weather gods aligned this Thursday on the Lake, unfortunately Mike and I choose to explore my old fishing grounds, knowing full well that the bite was on elsewhere. I guess that is the way fishing goes!

This is a Dwight fly-by we experienced right before the infamous outing:

Way to go guys. I'm jealous. Was in my shop all day finishing up the tail end of my first part of a project. Like Mike said, I've been on the end of a Robert Spro lesson. He knows his way around a Bronzeye popping frog. From what I've seen and heard, the Lake is putting out some quality fish right now. Can't wait for my turn to get on some of those.

Very Nice! I will be down to central Fla on the 23rd, would make the trip to catch a few like that. Lake Erie (Presque Isle) is my favorite Northern fishing destination. Do you think the smallies will be in the bay early this year due to the warm winter?

Interesting thought. The last two years the bay & lake were froze over. Right now the bay is ice free from what I just heard. The warmer water temps should have a few surprises for us come April. I think it will move things up a bit for sure. Good luck on your trip to the big O.
