Falcon LowRider XG Cast 6'6" MH/Fast Act
This is my first casting rod that I have purchased. Remember people talking about the Lowrider series being a good rod at a good price. Does anyone have this particular rod? http://www.***.com/descpageCASTFALCON-FLRC.html "LFC-5-166 LR Herm Special This rod is our #1 selling LowRider. It fishers worms, jigs, and large spinnerbaits equally well. Take a couple of these to Mexico, and you'll be set. Line Weight: 12-20" Figured this rod will be a good rod for what I want to do with spinnerbaits and small jigs. If I like baitcasting enough than I'm going to throw a Citica or Curado on this rod.

$30 reel
Exactly. If I find that I end up using this baitcaster over my spinning gear most of the time than I will upgrade in the fall.

$30 reel
I agree and respect peoples advice on these boards. I have learned a ton. But I also don't know if I'm going to like baitcasting. Chances are I'm going to hate it at first. 8-) But I'm going to put in the time with it. If you boys want to send me 100 bucks or a good reel than by all means, go ahead. ;D But for right now....my budget and being leary about baitcasting doesn't make sense for me to go out and grab a nice shimano. Although if I do end up liking it and using baitcasters a lot (mainly a weightless plastics man) than I will make the jump come b-day time. And I will definately go with a Citica or Curado at that time. No hard feelings guys. Just trying to get you all to see my situation.

$30 reel
29 bucks is cheap. Of coarse RW and others don't like the idea. But for just getting back into the game after so many years and wanting to start using a baitcaster this will work for me. I picked up a Falcon Lowrider 6'6" MH fast action rod to throw this on. Will it be the best reel in the world? Nope. But can it be something that I can learn on and get something better down the road if I like using baitcasters? Yep. With funds being the way they are this worked out good for me personally. I would rather have a decent rod with a low end reel than a nice baitcaster with a low end bass pro graphite rod for 30 bucks. Not like I have a boat and fish tourneys.....I'm a weekend shorebound angler for the most part. Like I said if I like fishing with a baitcaster than come September I can start looking into a Citica or Curado for my birthday present. We all can't have the best stuff right away like some of you guys. One more thing.......I ordered it yesterday afternoon and it shipped by supper time. That has to be a record for Basspro ha ha ha. ;D

$30 reel
What would you guys recommend putting this on. Remember I'm just starting out here so nothing crazy expensive.

$30 reel
Thanks for the heads up man. Been thinking about trying out a baitcaster all winter. For the price and free shipping. I gave it a go. Probably not going to be the best real. But it will get me started with something to learn on. One question....how did you find that on the site? Still looking after going to the main page of basspro.

tackle box help.
Agreed. Mine are still in there and holding some grubs at the moment. But they get in the way. I too stick my plastics in the front zippered pouch. With the back exposed pouch for my tools.

Cabin fever
I can't take it anymore. Not a winter sports person. Last spring was my first full year of fishing since being a teen. So this winter is killing me. Bought more than enough tackle. Actually went into Dicks the other day and went out empty handied because I had everything I wanted already sitting at home. My tackle is super organized and cleaned. Already told my wife when that first nice day comes in March I will be out all day long fishing. My favorite place to fish is great for ice fishing so I'm told. But never had the urge to buy ice fishing stuff.

tackle box help.
I have the red version of the Ockee lineup. Mine will fit four boxes and since you don't use boxes I would go with this one because it is smaller. You can use the space where those boxes were and fill it up with all your plastics. Plus there is plenty of pockets and compartments for other things like terminal tackle, tools, scales, etc. Picked mine up for 19 dollars. I would recommend this size for what you need it for. The 40 dollar bag is overkill for your needs IMO. Especially if your using it to tote around on the shore.

spinnerbaits
When I throw spinnerbaits, it is always from shore. Throwing spinnerbaits from a raft is not fun. Anyway I had some good success using the 3/8 T-1 double willow from Terminator. Throw parallel along the weedlines and dropoffs.

Delo's Tackle Grandebass Rattle snakes ?
It does not have rattles. Ordered a pack about a month ago. They have big ribs all the way down. If I had to give a description it would be comparable to a 5" Senko except "meatier". Not sure if they will work all that well on a shakey head. They have a heavy feel to them. I plan on dragging them on a splitshot or mini carolina rig. Sure I'll put them on a wacky rig as well as T-rig them. Looks like a pretty versatile bait if you ask me. Quality is very good.

List of top smallies?
Recent FLW edition ranked Erie as the #1 smallie location. 8-) I believe it. We get some BIG boys ccming up into the tributaries where I live. 18-20" smallmouth are not unusual. That little guy in my avatar is a dink compared to some of them that I have hauled in on powerworms.

Who is your favorite tackle retailer and why?
*** * Don't really have any ma and pop stores around me. Dicks SG is about 45 minutes away from me but it is so much easier to order online and not have to waste the gas.

Dicks sporting goods.
See what I mean ha ha ha. Everyones stores are a bit different. So Andrew....just go to your nearest Dicks and check out there selection. See for yourself if they meet your needs.

if you had to spend 10 more dollars on tackle warehouse.....
6" GYCB Kut Tails Fat Ikas Roboworms 7.5" Ribbontail worms (they have awesome ribs on the body) Pick up some Owner hooks as well. That's more than 10 dollars worth of ideas though. ;D

Dicks sporting goods.
The DSG by me is great! The rod selection like others have said is a bit weak. But there always fully stocked up and are always bringing in some new things. Funny that we were just talking about Reaction Innovations yesterday on the forum. Last night I went to Dicks and they are now carrying there product. They have a good selection of Zoom, Yamamoto, Roboworms, Berkley, Yum, etc. Like others have said.....it is going to vary by store because some of the posts that people have written are not even close to being the truth in my store. Hope this helps a bit.

Bank Fishing Tackle Box?
Going to disagree with you there Dave. Wacky rigging was a big producer for my son, wife, and myself this year from shore. All our biggest fish except one came from Wacky riggin. Either hopping it or even jerking it all the way back to shore. Give it a try if you haven't yet. Especially jerking it wacky.

MAN UP!!! Fine, if you think smearing dodo on peoples upper lips is cool, then that's cool. I'm just a guy with an opinion, and I'm not selling out to catch a fish. There is nothing wrong with your opinion. I too have problems with there stuff. I also have problems with the way a lot of things are going these days though. So your not alone man.

very frustrated
Also try some 7" power worms. I don't use them in the winter but I do use them in water temps that you describe and they catch smallies. Maybe not huge numbers but the sizes are there. Can't hurt to try. Put them on a split shot rig.

Do you have a favorite fishing memory or outing??
When I was just a young kid (maybe 5-8 years old). Fishing down at the creek with my grandpa and grandma. Fishing for whatever with bass sinkers, eagle claw hooks, and nightcrawlers. Anytime spent with them down there was awesome. But one time sticks out to me. My grandma hooked a huge steelhead. Not sure how big it was but to me it was insane and to my grandmother as well. Because she got it right to shore and her line snapped. She threw her pole down and JUMPED on top of it in the water to try and get it. Well the fish got out of the way and swam away. But grandma was soaked after her belly flop. We still laugh to this day about it. Something I'll never forget.

Dogs in your boat while you fish?
That last pic is awesome Jim!

Evolution Heavy Cover Jigs
I agree. That's why I have issues with it. You would think that they would come ready to go. Well that's one of the issues anyway. Maybe my tune will change come spring but compared to my other jigs in my arsenal this one doesn't look as well made.

Diawa Exceler Spinning Reel
Putting Cabelas 10lb line on it. Thinking a bigger spool size would help me with better line management. Thoughts everyone?
