Your Christmas Present
Yep my wife and I both agreed that Christmas time presents are for our son only. He doesn't believe in Santa anymore (8 years old) but it is still fun. Kids these days want all sorts of expensive gadgets. We don't get him them all for sure because I'm not a fan of kids having cellphones and crap at the age of 8. Point is.......my wife would kill me with this rule in place lol. She would call the bank or credit card company to track down the price lol.

Best midday bait for a hard bite?
Good advice. I'm a mostly shorefisherman with some rafting here and there. When I approach a spot from my raft that I fish from the shore sometimes, I usually get more bites and nicer fish when I'm on the water because I can sneak up on them. When I'm fishing that same spot without my raft (when I don't have much time and just want to throw a few casts) and I just walk out on that point..........the bite isn't as good and I have to really concentrate on the things that Crest is saying above. It can be a chore to catch some nice fish when my 8 year old son is with me because he is all boy....makes all sorts or racket....trips on rocks lol.

how big is this bass?
Being a fellow northern fisherman I would say 6lbs. There is no way that fish is only 3.5-4 lbs IMO. That looks to be a nice thick fish with a nice little belly on her. That fish is pretty close to BrokeJews for sure.

Strike King Rage Tail, the new buzzbait?

Cowboys/Bills
Being a resident 20 minutes from the stadium and a huge bills fan.......I wish Jauron would be fired. Last night was a joke and the coaching cost them this game. Hard one to take..... Sick of seeing my team losing games like that. My wife is sick of hearing me screaming at the TV as well. Even the dogs hide when my Bills play. I get "out of hand" to put it nicely.

Bait buying compulsive disorder.....
Guilty here as well..... Can never make it out of Dicks without spending 30 dollars or so. Bass Pro Shops may be coming to Buffalo. Who knows.....the deal goes on and than the news says that Bass Pro isn't coming. Sometimes I think that if they do come than I'm screwed. I have a pretty big wishlist on BPS.com and cabelas.com is mounting as well. Come spring I will have a big order for *.com and probably a nice size one from *** as well.

HELP ME! First time river fishing.....
7" Berkley Powerworm in motor oil or black with a chartruse tail. Weightless. If you want to add weight than go the split shot route about 18" above your bait. My #1 producer in my creek that has rocky/shale bottoms. Nabbed plenty of big smallies with this technique. Going to try out tubes next spring though. Oh yeah I haven't tried these in the fall because everyone is fishing for steelhead in the creek at that point so I can't get down there. But give them powerworms a try. I also nailed my PB smallie on a 3/16th Giggy head (shakey head jighead) with a GULP watermeleon shakey worm. IMO they love the Berkley scents. Oh yeah....one more thing. Always throw up stream into the current. Let that powerworm float down the rapids and try to keep your line semi tight most of the time. The smallies will see that bait coming right at them and they WILL clober it. If its weighted with split shot than it will also still come down the rapids but more towards the bottom, while banging rocks.

Spare spool and how to change them
Figured as much but I just wanted to make sure. Thanks.

Anchor for small inflatable raft?
THanks guys. Going to pick up 2 10lbers than. Appreciate the advice and tips. Never thought of picking up two but that makes a lot of sense.

Spare spool and how to change them
Picked up a Pflueger President not long ago. Came with an extra spool. Going to spool my main spool with Hybrid Ultra soft #6 and the other spool with BPS Fluoro 8lb. I know you just unscrew the drag on the top the spinning reel to take the spool off......but is there a specific way that it needs to fit back down when I change up my spools based on what I am fishing? Just don't want to screw the drag up on the reel when I change spools. Help I am lost in this area totally. Sure it's not a big deal but I want to know that I'm not going to mess up my new reel. Thanks.

Anchor for small inflatable raft?
I fish a large pond/small lake. The morning hours are great with no wind at all....but around noon it just whips right through the small valley that this body of water is in. I don't get huge waves or anything but it sure is enough to move my coleman 4 man raft around. Sick of paddling to just stay in position. The bottom of the pond/small lake is muddy with some gravel in it. What do you recommend for size and style of anchor? I was thinking about a 10lb mushroom anchor. Would this work? What else would I need besides an anchor rope?

Some questions about smallies
Smallies like to feed and dig in the bottoms of the gravel/sand. I would weight that crawdad and drag it along the bottom. I do this with worms and what not in the rapids. Just letting the current drag it. They kill em that way. Throw some split shot up about 12-18" and hang on. Don't be afraid to rig a nightcrawler (not balled up) this same way and let it just lay on the bottom with the split shot. This too works well in the current.

Anyone use hooks from Hookerz Tackle?
I can't wait to use there shakey heads. Bought them in 1/8 and 1/4. Spring time smallie fishing can't come soon enough!!!!!

Vacuum sealing...
I bought a ton as well. Why not just throw them in a shoebox like me lol. Seriously I have never had any problems with Powerbait melting...shrinking...going bad....etc. I still have two bags of 7" worms that I have owned for almost 6 years now. (Don't like the colors) and there still stinky and intact! Colors are a bit faded but there still fishable.

Fish Hedz

whats the REAL size of this bass?
Can you ask your friend where he got his scale? I'd like to pick one up. ;D And someone needs to teach him how to use a measuring tape. :-X

Casting Weightless Plastics with a Baitcaster
;D Same thing happened to me except I was throwing it with my spinning gear because I don't have a bait caster. Sucker sailed a ways. Never found it or got it back because I didn't have my boat. Either someone nabbed it or a fish is swimming around with it. >

Bending the barb
I have always left the barbs untouched. Never had a lot of problems so why change? I pretty much lip hook all my fish. Especially because I use circle hooks most of the time for wacky rigging which is one of my favorite styles. Don't think I would want to try and fish for smallies with a barb crushed. That's just asking for a big fish to jump off.

Catch and release, being overdone??????
That's a big problem there. Angering me and I'm not even fishing in your state.

Gary Yamamoto Baby Craw - Good Deal

I'm sure RW has fished them before. At 1.88 in the bargain cave how could I pass this up? Picked up a pack of them. I guess if I don't get a bite fishing them on the bottoms texas rigged than I can always use them as jig trailers. Picked up some Yozuri Ultra soft #6 in green color as well. To keep the wife happy I also picked her up a Columbia winter coat on sale for 70 bucks. :

Anyone use hooks from Hookerz Tackle?
Like I said. They feel sharp and sturdy to me. Try em out for the price. That's what I'm doing. They definately don't have a "cheap" feel to them to me.

Anyone use hooks from Hookerz Tackle?
Purchased some football jigs and some tubeheads, along with some tubes and finesse worms. Haven't tried any of them yet but the jigs are pretty nice and the hook seems pretty sharp. Going to probably try them out Sat morning. I will report my thoughts on Monday morning when I get back to work. Fast shipping and nice prices for sure though.
