  1. how the carpet holds up will depend on how its taken care of. i have a 14' boat with 5 year old carpet and for the most part its 100% theres a few places its come un-glued but other than that its golden. now, for the 2nd half of this story, the boats lived its life inside a garage, it is cleaned after its used, when the carpet gets wet, i always put a blower in the boat and get it dry as soon as possible.
  2. thats a good question. i would assume the factory knows whats best for the boats.
  3. cedar and kill creek. caught a few fish at both places but the water isnt clearing at all.
  4. first of all, i fish from a boat 99.999999999% of the time so this only applies to boat fishing. flipping tube baits around docks, dropping a shaky head worm on the head of bass you see on your graph, jerk baits. there are some guys on here that breath spinning gear and they can really open your eyes to uses for that type of gear.
  5. is anyone finding any water that not stained? anything?
  6. Last night my brother & I were sitting in the den & I said to him, "I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine & fluids from a bottle to keep me alive. That would be no quality of life at all. If that ever happens, just pull the plug." So he got up, unplugged the computer & threw out my beer. 8-)
  7. thats a simple fix 99% of the time. taking a few measurements and thumbing through a few web pages will solve the problem.
  8. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h51/40oldtimer19/Electrics/12-24Vwiring.jpg that should be a good start.
  9. the right rod will help a ton. i have a revo stx on a browning rod and it doesnt throw light baits well at all.
  10. ya, wave at the lake as you drive by it going to kill creek and toss jigs and smaller crank baits.

I was walking past the mental hospital the other day & all the patients were shouting; "13...13...13!!" The fence was too high to see over, but I saw a little gap in the planks & looked thru to see what was going on. Someone poked me in the eye with a stick. Then they all started shouting; "14...14...14!!!!!!!!! ;D
  12. that or try to have the bait dragging the bottom. p.s. this can get costly fishing from the bank.
  13. crankbaits are a must have. how you use a crankbait is simple for the most part, toss it out, and bang it off every rock, log, stick you can find. i stink at lipless cranks so others will have to fill you in on how they are best used.
  14. ebay is a good place to shop for baitcasters. ive never had a problem personaly. i personal like the idea of buying reels that can be serviced to last a lifetime. the ambassadeur 4600 C4 at about $60 would be a good deal and last a life time.
  15. Why not just use the X-Rap deep? http://www.rapala.com/products/luresdetail.cfm?modelName=x-rap_deep&freshorsalt=Fresh i dunno.............
  16. Hmm that's a good idea. Can you still get the good cutting/darting action when you rig it that way though? I know you can use a Carolina Rig to run some other crankbaits, so I don't see why it wouldn't work with an X - Rap. as far as i know you do. you can pin the weight if you wanted too, that might bring out more of a jerk bait style action and keep the bait at the depth you want.
  17. thats what i need to learn. one backlash and that rod/reel is done for the day. maybe some day ill take the time to learn instead of just fishing with what i know, sort of like picking up a baitcaster for the first time. that's what i don't get.braid is the easiest to remove a backlash from.put your thumb on the spool and reel in some line.release the spool and pull out some line.repeat as needed.99.9% of all backlashes come right out this way. i need to spool a rod with braid again knowing it will bever see water and go out in the back yard and learn to use it. i think id like my jig rod to have braid...i think.
  18. the rod really helps cast the light baits. i did final get to the point where i use spinning gear for some jerk baits.
  19. i like split shot on a rubber band.
  20. this time of the year i like to have about a 36" leader and a slip weight above the swivel. you can fish deep and work the bait slower.
  21. i like good gear. does everyone need daiwa sols? no. if you could afford to buy them responsibly i suggest you do. for many years i only used abu round reels and i know thats good gear but theyre not Revo STXs and Sols. on a side note one of my fav. crankbait rods is a berkley cherrywood rod........lol
  22. hey guys, i posted this on the flea market forum but i thought id post it here too. i have a 4 hp mercury gnat gas outboard motor that someone can have free of charge if they can get some use out of it. i know it needs some carb work but last i checked the thing would start and run. anyone interested can shoot me a pm. motor is gone
  23. size of the boat mainly depends on if youre gunna fish huge waters and how much storage you need. as far as brand goes, ranger and triton are both great boats.
  24. it takes more energy to burn 91 than it does 87. how in the end that effect power im not sure but i agree. 87 octane should do the job nicely.
  25. thats what i need to learn. one backlash and that rod/reel is done for the day. maybe some day ill take the time to learn instead of just fishing with what i know, sort of like picking up a baitcaster for the first time.
