  1. Don't worry, 5.0's kid does jump, he uses a light-saber and other directed energy weapons of testicular destruction.
  2. Even though they were still prespawn, just seeing beds in Vermont in April seems really early, imo. I still find fish on beds after 4th of July in Mallets Bay.
  3. So glad you tried something new. lol
  4. I saw about a dozen on Beach on Friday (55 degree crystal clear water) and they were empty. Assuming they were made then backed down. Sunday on Keach there were 6 or 7 (northern part of the state with 57 degree water) and caught one off of a bed. I'm guessing some stained lakes like RWP and Glasgo might already be just about finished. Did they look post-spawn Wayne?
  5. Abrasion Resistant = Trilene 100% or Seaguar Abraisx(pretty sure it is a true flouro) Least memory = Sunline Shooter Best value = Trilene 100% or Seaguar Invisx
  6. In cold water I throw big inline and bucktail spinners up here for bass. On some lakes in the warmer weather, big 6" striper poppers work well.
  7. Seeing beds with fish on them in every part of the state. Some even look post spawn or there is an eating disorder taking over in some lakes.
  8. My issue with braid on spinning gear is unless I'm skipping a bait into cover I would want a flouro leader. But this means another knot, and I want as few knots and spots to possibly break in the line as possible. And when I have braid going to 6 pound line I just don't trust that line to line knot, I'm also typically fishing rocks when I fish with spinning gear. Braid + rocks = bad day

I bought all of the Pure Poison's in the Cabela's in Hartford when they got down to 0.99 a piece, lol. I agree on the fish size issue. On some lakes I won't throw them after I get five because they are good for limiting out. Where as on other lakes they seem to catch quality fish. Either way I have yet to break 5 pounds on one. Did hit an 11 pound pike on one though. ;D
  10. I started having that issue with them a few years ago. I went to War Eagle and never looked back, I had a solid 4 pound fish snap one in a tourney and it cost me about $400, so needless to say, I'm no longer a big fan of Terminator spinnerbaits.
  11. Way to stiff for both, imo. If it was a medium power maybe, but a medium heavy is too strong imo. I like either a medium light or a medium and extra fast rod. I would use it more for spinnerbaits and pitching in light cover.
  12. Do you know if P-Line's products have a thicker diameter than most lines? I feel like 10 pound CX and CXX feels more like a 12.
  13. I noticed their prices just went through the roof around here and was wondering the same thing. I want to know if it is worth the extra money compared to say the Maxx Marines that seem indestructible.
  14. I also put the line on after soaking it in water. I will also spray some Reel Magic or KVD in a rag and run the line through it as I put it on.
  15. I'm starting to live off the 6 and 8 pound 100% since the spawn is coming up. I still don't understand all the flouro and spinning reel issues. All of my experiences with P-Line (with the exception of CXX on a casting reel) have been things I want to forget.

What's wrong with a cougar attack?
  17. Hard to beat the areas around northern Champlain or the Blue Ridge Parkway area.
  18. I'll take spinning rods any day. What kind of line and rigs were you using BL?
  19. Who told you that? ;D LOL
  20. One thing I would add to it is wrenches with a ratcheting end. They save knuckles, minimize the amount of the stress and objects thrown out of anger. One of my better investments.

Had a club tourney today on a local toilet. Started under cloudy nasty looking skies at 7am and headed for a small rock pile in 2-3' of water and hit a 12" fish on the tube that was thinner than the golden ruler I measured him on. But it was a keeper to start the morning. Continued onto a few more rock piles with nothing on the tube or jig. So next came a grassbed in 7-9' that had about 3' of grass already coming up. I hit 2 more skinny 12" fish on the trap 3 casts apart. So I had three keeps in the box by 9am and then the rain started. It seemed to really slow the bite down as even the pickerel stopped smoking the trap. Left the grassbed and headed to where the old river channel swings close to the bank before turning. Worked the tube in 7-9' and hit 2 more 12" fish on the tube. So now I had 5 fish for about 4 pounds, wonderful. I had more fish than anyone else but really lacked any weight and knew there were some guys who usually owned the lake and I would need about 12-14 pounds. This place is loaded with 2-3 pound fish. So the bite really slowed and then the sun came out at around 2pm. I started running from rock pile to rock pile in 2-3' culling out 12" fish with 14" fish. : The tube got stuck in a rock so I motored over to get it out and when I looked around I saw a fish on a bed about 10' from where my tube was stuck. I got it out and circled around to the backside of the fish. After 6 casts I got her to go, all 2.5 pounds of her. : Well, somehow, my 5 rats and 2.48 was good enough for 1st and lunker. ;D I had the only limit, the two bags with 4 fish went 3.3 and 3.5. Was absolutely awful but it makes me love my medium-light rod, 6 pound line, and finesse fishing. 8-) When the local sticks say it's tough and can't bang out a limit, it makes me proud of my 14" fish. ;D

  24. Use a hook with a screw lock or peg. It helps but they still rip.
