  1. Good point, I didn't think it out that far.
  2. We got my son one for christmas and it is fun. I've gotten pretty good at bowling, but I can't seem to get the hang of golf. I liked the Rapala game for PC. Probably a lot more fun on Wii.
  3. I forgot about Browning Silaflex. Those have good reputations, too. Thanks for the feedback on the Castaic, all.
  4. Alright, alright (Avid). His admissions are damning. I agree. But you have to admit, this turned into a feeding frenzy. I saw posts about him (from members of this site) on several other boards that I have visited - people who registered just to attack him. I had fun with it, too (though I never accussed him of anything). All I'm saying is to be careful when you start throwing around accussations. A lot of people think anything goes on the internet. This guy rolled over. Some don't. And a savvy lawyer won't have any problem taking an accuser to task. It rarely happens, but it does happen. I've seen it. I've had to provide defenses to people sued for such things. Their usual response is "it's just the internet." They're saying the same thing when the jury is reading the verdit against them. It's not always as harmless as a lot of people think.
  5. Actually, I was thinking about getting both. I don't have any REAL cranking set ups. I have some spinning set ups good for it, but I like baitcasters. My only medium baitcast rods are fast or xtrafast action with 6.2:1 reels. These will do, but they are not optimal. I was thinking about getting the 5.2:1 reel and a 7' medium Crankin' Stik for shallow and medium divers, and a 4.7:1 and a 7' MH Crankin' Stick for deep divers and bigger jerk baits. I don't want to spend a fortune and both these reels and rods have great reputations.
  6. Can you really tell the difference between a 5.2:1 and 4.7:1?
  7. A thong with a fish on the front? Last thing I want to think of at a time like that. :-? :-/
  8. Hey, I'm just adding my $.02. God gave you all free will, do what you like. I know there's a line that should not be crossed. Clean fun and parody is one thing. Unproveable accusations is another. My last word on this.
  9. Thanks, both of you. BTW, the BPS Fritts reel, which is better for cranks - 5.2:1 or 4.7:1? Probably not a lot of difference - 23" versus 21" respectively.
  10. I didn't post his address, someone else did - from David's own website. The "satelite imagery" came of Local.Live.Com - public record. It could have as easily come from mapquest or googlemaps, terraearth or any number of other websites. And I don't remember calling the guy any names. All this is a quite a bit different than traipsing all over the net calling the guy a liar.
  11. It's my opinion this guy has done some problematic things - use of copyrighted or trademarked material, and claiming as his own art produced by someone else. Those acts appear irrefutable. But I think we've got to be careful on the other stuff. This guy has presented himself as a disabled fisherman of limited means and solicted the donation of equipment because he can't afford it himself. Several people feel duped by him. Maybe they were. But maybe they weren't. For all we know, he could be exactly what he says he is - a disabled fisherman of limited means. That nice house of his may not be his. He doesn't dress like a well-to-do person in his pictures. The nicest shirt I've seen him in was given to him by Megastrike (I think). Point is, he may be precisely what he says. And if he isn't, no one here really has the means to prove it. So I think you've got to be careful. Disparaging the guy's character may seem like a public service. Chasing him around the internet and posting messages about him may seem like a good idea. But what you may be doing is slandering him. Thus, you could find yourself speaking to his lawyers. And moderators here that go to other forums and post things thay can't prove could potentially be setting this site up for liability. I think the subject has run it's course. Let those with direct involvement handle their own affairs. Just my (qualified) opinion.
  12. Seems to me that there isn't a lot of practical difference between a 7.1:1 reel and a 6.4:1 reel. For instance the REVO in 7.1:1 retrieves 31" of line and the 6.4:1 27.5". Not a lot of difference.
  13. BPS Lingerie I'm on the fence on this one. I like lingerie on a woman, but camo lingerie? How will I find the good parts?
  14. I don't know. Yes, I have success. In fact, it's among my favorite crank baits. I used them a lot this fall, mostly in crawdad and firetiger color, and I did very well with them. I used them mostly in tidal, brackish creeks, catching fish usually in around 6-10 feet of water. Water temps were in the low to mid 50s. I guess you can use them anythime. But I was particularly successful with them this fall.
  15. 1) Bass Pro Shops David Fritts Signature Series Baitcast Reel I've heard nothing but good things about them like "good value" and "casts great." But can someone give a little more info? What's it made of? What sort of brake does it have? How is is accessed? How do you adjust the brake when you access it? Long term durability/reliability? it looks like a great cranking reel. I know Muddy just ordered one (don't know if he's received it). And someone else on here had one. Any tidbits ont hsi reel would be apreciated. 2) Shimano Castaic Anyone have one? Pros and cons on this reel? Is that thumb bar as good and convenient as Shimano says? Is it the best choice for a flippin' rod? Thanks.
  16. Glad you're alright. Last night was nuts. The remnants of that line of storms is rolling through VA and NC as we speak. Not much to them now, though.
  17. I have a "sports equipment" rider on my homeowner's policy that provides an extra $10,000 worth of comprehensive coverage for my guns, fishing equipment, etc. My boat insurance also provides additional protection for certain losses. Your homeowners (or renters policy) should provide some level of protection. But if all you have is a homeowners or renters policy and you don't have a comprehensive rider on your policy, or a separate policy for your sports equipment, DON'T ASSUME you are covered properly. Your policy may give different level of protection depending on whether your loss was due to fire or theft. Could be that the coverage you think you have is totally inadequate. READ YOUR POLICY. As Shadcranker pointed out, coverage for this kind of stuff is cheap.
  18. Man, some of you folks are getting incredible distances. I've never had to make a 50 yard cast ever while bass fishing. I don't think I've even ever tried to cast that far while just practicing. A 50 foot cast for me, while fishing, is a long cast.

Girls don't drive worse than boys, they can just never seem to remember what happened. I can't tell you how many statements I've taken from 16-18 year old girls where they contradict themselves, ask mom and dad (who weren't even there) what happened, etc. I cringe whenever I know I have to talk to a young girl whose been in an accident. They also tend to be taken advantage of at accident scenes. They tend to be belittled and bullied (for lack of a better word) even when they are not at fault. It all makes invetigating an accident much more frustrating.
  20. Reelmech nailed it. I tried to get a pic of the bearing in the sleeve but couldn't manage it. Glad to help.
  21. I own several C4s and have owned several more. They are good, solid reels and respectable performers. They are immensely strong. I've pretty much retired mine, though. They have a non-disengaging level wind which, in my experience, reduces casting distance. I was going to upgrade mine with ceramic bearings and even ordered some, but cancelled my order since I don't think $90 worth of upgrades per reel would give it $90 more performance. The C4 has a place in fishing - but it's not the best choice for bass. The C4 really excels if you like to tinker with reels. They are extremely easy to work on and upgrade.
  22. Here is a series on a Revo Inshore rebuild that is well photo-documented that shows the breakdown of the reel. (Inshore has a centrifugal brake). Revo Rebuild
  23. and That's because it is screwed down tight. If you don't remove the spool, you can't take the handle side plate off. Because there is a screw on the inside of the frame under the spool that needs to be removed before that sideplate can come off.
