Topwater lovers checkin
The ZarA Super Spook is tough to beat. Black buzzbait is also good.

Pointer Vs. X-Rap
You are going to find two camps on this forum. In early spring when the water temps are in the upper 30 and 40's I exclusively use a pointer. When the water warms I use both. If I had to choose one then it would be the LC Pointer 100SP.

Large swimbait users
Nice! I like the BBZ-1. It is the best swimabit for the money IMO. The Jackall monster jack is nice too, but I have heard issues of the paint chipping. Buying swimbaits is addictive. I just ordered another 3:16 wake Jr.

I have not fished with a triple trout yet, but I have tried all of the other swimbaits you have listed below. They are all quality swimbaits. If had to chose one I would go with a 3:16 Wake Jr. The combination of realism and action is just mind blowing. I have read reports of brids coming down and trying to eat the Wake Jr. Can wake it, swim it, twitch it. A second bait would be the Lunker Punker. This swimbaits doesnt look like anything special but flat out gets blown up using a walk the dog action. Right now my favorite swimbait is the Shellcracker. Nice swimming action, but where it really excels is just twitching it and letting it sit. Again I am a swimbit newbie, but these are few that I have had some success with in a short amount of time here in the Midwest. I havent landed a fish with the HUD yet > I cant wait until I move to CA in September to really give these swimbaits a workout.

Swimbait reel features
As a swimbait newbie myself, I would say that the wide spool is necessary so you can have >100 yrds of 20+ lb test. For most applications Mono is perferrred and a Cardiff 200 will hold <80yds of line. As for the reel you need to have something that will get the fish to the boat now so the fish wont throw the swimbait. Not to mention you have in some cases a 1/2lb swimbait on the other end. A 7'6" rod would be too short IMO to throw a BBZ-1? And the BBZ-1 has a line recommendation of 25 lb mono which probably exceeds the amount of line that you would be comfortable fishing with on a Cardiff 200. Just my 2 cents.

new loomis GLXs
I have a few LTB rods with the split grips, but I still like my loomis better. It is hard to beat the GLX. No new worm/jig rods coming out. I wish they made a 7'5" flippin stick rated up to 11/2-2oz.

Jigs and Trailers
Yeap. Small fish will eat big jigs. If a bass can get its mouth over it, it will try to eat it.

DEEP water bassin?
Drop shot 20-25ft.
-
Paddletail Swimmbait Frustration
Mattlure Baby Bass is the answer. Especially in central MO.

Lucky Craft
Pointer or Sammy 100. The Lucky Craft Rick Clunn Cranks are solid too. If you fish clear water Ghost color is a must.
-
Deep diving crankbaits
I fish lucky craft cranks most of the time unless I am fishing a deep diver. For deep divers I use a DD22. A couple of my favorite colors: Slick and Lavander Shad. Dont forget about the Fat Free Shad either.

Best Fluorocarbon for spin casting?
BPS flurocarbon. Pline fluorcarbon.
-
Crankbait Rod
SR 705 is a great cranking stick. I picked one up and have been really impressed so far.

Strike King - King Shad Anybody got anything to say about these?
I have a couple in my box, but havent use them yet. I have heard mixed reviews with the main problem being the joint breaking. I have heard that the newer models have corrected this problem by inserting a metal pin, but I don't know. Once the new Spro shad comes out I belive this lure will be obselete. P.S. Try the SK. King Kong. It has a real loose action swiming through the water.

new loomis GLX
I got a newsletter from a loomis distributor stating that there are 7 new GLX models coming out this year. Does anyone know what they are? No details were released.

Wacky Rigged Senko Help?
I like texas-rigging them and putting a small split shot above the hook.

Swimbaits....
I live in MO and they are working there. Here are a few off the top of my head. Mattlures Baby Bass and Bluegill 6" lunker punker 6" Huddleston or Baitsmith (Purple Ghost is awesome) Make sure you have a rod to throw these swimbaits.

Yum Money Minnow?
I jumped into the swimbait craze too, but havent bought any of these swimbaits. From what I have read don't even bother with these swimbaits, but instead opt to buy a couple of quality proven swimbaits that will last several fish (i.e. Mattlure baby bass). It will end up saving you money in the long run.

chatter baits
I became a believer last night. We emptied the tackle box for the first 3-4hrs. My partner tied on a Booyah Boogee then we started to pick up fish. I didnt even have a chatterbait in the tacklebox. I will always have a couple in the box now. Seems like a great night bait.

Sebile Magic Swimmer
I first started out with letting it sink and then real back in. I was expecting more action when reeling it back in. The lure didnt get as "loose" as I wanted it too on the retrieve. Wasnt really impressed with that action so I tried jerk-pause. The jerk pause method looked a lot better in the water, with the lure darting to one side and then slowly sinking. I will be the first to admit that the bass were not in the mood to chase today, but still wasnt crazy about the lures action. The magic swimer seems to swim through the water and doesnt seem to put off the vibration I get from a crank. I dont know if this is a bad thing, just different. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I will give them another shot or two b/f deciding to get rid of them.

Sebile Magic Swimmer
Ok bought a couple of these and tried them out today. 125 size slow sink. I really came away unimpressed by this lure, especially b/c they have been hyped up by other forum member. I didnt feel like this lure moved much water and I was unimpressed by its action. A fast sink model would probably be better. Perhaps my expectations were too high and maybe I wasnt fishing them correctly. Bummer. :-/

anyone fished the new St Croix Legend Tourney rods?
I have few of these rods including the 70MHF. This rod is more like a H. It has a lot of backbone and is intended for big spinnerbaits, but is a very good deep water jig rod. I dont mind the split grips for fishing. It is not noticable if you palm the reel. I have a shimano 50MG on this rod (curado 200 but didnt balance too well). I also have the Big Gulp and the C-rg rod from this lineup. I also highly recommend the Big Gulp rod, it is a really light flippin stick.

mbr843c or mbr844c
Allen, I live in MO and you cant really go wrong with either rod. I would take Ronnies advice and get the 844c. My friend uses this rod and loves it. You will be very happy.

Why are soft plastic swimbaits so high??
Those are cheap swimbaits. Try getting a HUD or Mattlures $20-35 for one swimbait. Take quality over quantity.
