  1. I used to use XPS line until I made the switch to PLine. I have no complaints with the XPS flurocarbon, I just personally like the Pline 8lb test and use it on my crankbait reel. My other baitcasters I use YoZuri hybid or Pline CXX. To answer RW question about managemnt on spinning gear, I have had no problems with the XPS fluorocarbon 6 & 8lb test. I used this on my spinning tackle for 3 years and had good results with the line with minimal line twist. I rarely pull out the spinning gear these days unless I want to use a Zoom Trick worm or head out to the local pond. This is just based off my experiences with the line. I hope this helps.
  2. DD22 Norman is your crank. It is a big crankbait so make sure you equipment can handle it.
  3. Why would you need a deep runner that you can pitch into trees? You would want a square bill crank for that. Lucky Craft Rick Clunn 2.5 and 3.5 square bill would be great for this application and are on sale at BPS. If you are astrictly looking for a crank that gets the job done deep go with Normans DD22. These cranks are hard to beat for deep water cranking. I recommend the colors Slick, Lavander Shad, and Suicide.
  4. 10" red shad Berkley power worm. I had a zoom red shad worm my buddy a Berkley red shad power worm. He was just pulling out the fish. I switch over to the Berkley and soon I was too. From that point on my 10" worm is Berkley Red Shad or Black Fleck. IMO it is the best 10" worm on the market and I have tried all the major brands. There is something about that worm that attracts the fish. It is typically the only plastic worm that gets pulled out of the bag during the summer months and it usually delievers.
  5. The same thing happened to me. The subwalk rang up at full price $7.29. I told cashier about the Rapala 20% discount and he gave it too me for the subwalks. I got 4 subwalks for $5.83 a piece and got 23% off the DT.
  6. LOL. i just got home from Dick's. I picked up 4 subwalkers. That is the only place I can find them around here. BPS and Cabalas is completely out. I also picked up another DT10 so that I could get fufill the Rapala promotion requirements. Buy 5 lures and get a tool set for free.
  7. I would go with the 6'6" rod. I am 6'2" and a 7" rod is too long for me when working jerkbaits. I used a 7" rod for 8 hs this past Saturday fishing in a tournament. All I could think was I wish I had a 6'6" rod. I was worn out at the end of the day using a LC Pointer 100SP. Trust me and the others when we say you should get a 6'6" rod for hard jerkbaits. Your rod tip is always pointing down which make using a 7' rod a pain. To me casting distance isnt important when working a jerkbait. I work it super slow and the pointer gets down to is running depth in 3 reel turns.
  8. also tried an XPS Lazer Eye Nitro Super Shallow but didn't get any hits. It LOL. Welcome to the club. I have two and would be willing to give them away. Mine rolled to side even after constant tuning. The hooks are awful too. Perhaps they redesigned them this year (mine are 3 years old). I would recomend buying a Manns -1 in the future. The toad is an awesome bait! Nice catch.
  9. Does anyone here own this rod? How does it work with the Deep Diving Cranks?
  10. BPS usually has the cranking stick on sale at some point during the year. My buddy picked one up for $30 last year.
  11. Go with boxes and a soft bag. You can get 5 boxes for $10 at BPS right now. That should get you started. I have a soft bag to carry my bozes when I go on trips. if I am fishing out of a boat with I just throw my boxes in the boat and go from there.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Now I whope to put everything to good use.
  13. You cant go wrong with the BPS rods for the money. I own two BPS rods and used them exclusively before I decided to upgrade. You can get a BPS rod for 60 and in a few days you can get a Plueger reel for 80 (50 off the price) during there Spring sale. This would be a nice combo to start with. I still use this setup with 7'MH for big spinnerbaits.
  14. I had to say other because Jig is not listed. I catch my bigger fish on the jig and more importantly I have a lot of confidence throwing it.
  15. You could use it to slow roll big spinnerbaits. I always go with baitcaster to throw cranks. A spinning rod will wear you out if you have to throw it all day. I would personally get a MH rod with moderate action 7' in length.
  16. I bought a few BPS brand cranks. They didnt run right out of the box. Spent time tuning them. Hooks are cheap. I would go with Storm Wiggle Warts. These are time tested fish magnets. Although the hooks will need ot be replaced. I picked up some bandits 300 series at BPS. I was impressed, but havent got a chance to use them yet.
  17. I was down at the LOZ this week fishing jerkbaits. A tourney this week was won using a jig. In a couple of weeks the jig bite should be strong. I typically use a small 1/4oz jig with a chompers twin tail grub as a trailer. Just work the jig slowly around chunk rock and you should pick up a fish or two. Dragging it and let it sit works too. If you are going on the last weekend of March you might want to bring a few spinnerbaits along. Carolina rig lizard should start to come into play as well. If the water temperature reaches 55 then the entire tackle box will come into play. I will heading down the weekend of the March 20th. Hopefully, I can pick up a few fish.

Yeah Slick color is awesome. I go to the Fat Boy and DD22. I love Norman cranks, but I perfer Rapala and LCs for the 4-10 depths.
  19. I have the FTP Falcon boxes. The best boxes are the jig, spinnerbait, rattle trap, and jerkbait box. Here is the problem with the large crank boxes. It will not hold 12 large cranks. It will hold 10 DD22 not 12. I have tried to shove just about any other fat bait in the top two slots. Good luck trying to put a wiggle wart, DT, or any other fat hardbody bait with a fat lip. Medium crank box. This is were the biggest problem is. You almost need another deep crank box. DT10 are a stuggle to fit in. FAT BODY baits (Manns -4, Lucky Craft RC etc) will noy fit in this box well. It does store DT 10s, Norman Deep or middle N, I almost perfer the little side pouch that holds 15 spinnerbaits. Small body crank box works well.
  20. THe Eakin Jig rod is solid. My fishing buddy swears by them and other Falcon models. You cant go wrong with these rods for the price. I believe the Eakin Jig model is 6'10".

Thanks Bass_fin@tic I look forward to your design.
  22. Thats funny!! I did the same thing with the french fries and lizards. I thought to myself "Those would be great on a Crig" and then I never rig anything but a trick worm or fluke. Oh well, guess that reminds me to pull them out again and give them a whirl. Wayne I have really high confidence in both the magnum lizard and the french fry both by Zoom in watermelon candy. I carolina rig a ton and these are the first things that get put on the hook along with the sweet beaver. My worthless bait would be BPS shallow runner crank. The whole thing was made on the cheap. I bought 2. I havent bought any BPS brand since.
