Big bait big fish
The 5in version tiki snakes was the first soft plastic bait i ever used, First cast on the potomac river in chicamuxen I caught a 1.5 pound largemouth 2 feet from the boat. That was 3.5 years ago I just finished up my last pack early this july, good bait more of a numbers bait, great for fishing hydrilla. It is most like a topwater bait due to its real slow On a trip(last month) to a hydrilla packed farm pond in two days I caught 15 bass up to 6pounds on them 8-) water was super clear and you would watch bass swim up to your bait and inhale it just on tiki snakes I fish the 5in snake on a 5/0 ewg standard wire hook for the 7in one a 5/0 or 6/0 will most likely work fine The 7inch model has me very interested, I'll probably pick a pack or two up. the action on the 5incher pushes water but is more subtle(less than a swim senko) but I would expect the 7incher to push some water

Jig Fishing Question
x2 you'll find that on some bodies of water the fish choke down jigs no matter what and some places where it will not have the same affect along with everything in between thats why you hear that some lakes are called great crankbait lakes etc. Color usually is not the probelm

Who still uses old style plastic worms?
um big creme worms in purple or earthworm are still killer baits the smaller ones work well the prop rig is cool but wacky rigging is a better option

rage tail help needed
Haha yeah I have alot of 4/0 ewg and up. I love super line hooks Dicks sell 3/0 4/0 superline hooks but they are in family packs and not worth all the extra light wire hooks VMCs are nice, their 4/0 ewg are as big as 5/0 hooks My favorite hooks are Gamakatsu ewg Monster hooks if dicks ever stocked those they would be out of them in 5 minutes ;D

Please Help with this Pond
Is this your first time to the pond?Does it have grass?I would sit on that one piece of land that juts out for most of my time it is in the northeast corner of the pond looks like a small point I bank fish alot and hate when i am surrounded by inches of water and I will wade but do not like doing it, SO I would stay on the east side and look for structure if I didnt get bites off that point and the adajacent cove. But I would probably investigate that long strip of shallow water that goes way out I'd drag a senko with a 1/16 or 1/8 oz bullet weight, easy rig for finding fish in a new place, and good for a little deeper water That looks like a nice pond,Good luck

Potomac/aquia 8/13 report
thats funny matt, flippin, What do you mean should've fished the potomac? is aquia not part of the potomac? IMO senkos are not as effective as in smaller lakes and ponds, sounds like a no brainer but guys just keep chucking them,my boater chucked senkos for probably 5hours out of the nine we fished and I threw frogs, ikas, various creature baits, ten inch worm, didnt do any better but at least I was looking for another bite but why you didnt get any decent ones on the tube alludes me :-? and the spinnerbait should have at least gotten bites Didn't try a swim bait?

Potomac/aquia 8/13 report
WOW that seems too tough, What did you use and what did you fish? Matt lol thats funny I mean with ugly sticks you can blame your rods but what happened to your other rods and where did you get the ugly sticks?? Were there any size to the fish you lost? if not, it doesnt sound too bad but if you were losing big fish then its a nightmare > good thing your gonna buy some stiff rods I have looked at a small walmarts stocked rods and they seemed preetty good for cheap stuff some decent meat sticks there be sure to get some big sticks

Potomac/aquia 8/13 report
yeah for the one time a year I fish there ;D yeah I fish the place 2-3 times a year mainly in the summer but I'll catch some decent ones when I go so I'm not complaining flippin4it the spinnerbait is good(white/green) but a small swimbait will give you better size from what I have seen, plus I only threw it the last 2-3 hours so who knows what could happen in a longer period of time No wouldnlt use senkos,it is just a grind with them espeacially that day,I love chucking senkos but there are better baits for the potomac, hopefully you can get a better topwater bite together than I could. the swimbait with a 1/4oz bullet weight wore my wrists out since i only let the bait get down to 1ft depth, lots of reeling Oh gotto love drifting while watching guys tearing the grass beds up doing figure eights in them chunking senkos in 2-3 fett of water : just a rat race

Potomac/aquia 8/13 report
Sorry it's a little late Fished with my neighbor Started out in quantico 6:30 launched out of leeslyvania, stayed for 30min I caught a dink on a gambler cane toad,my buddy caught a dink with a shallow crank. Went to aquia spent the rest of the day there(til 3:30) chucked senkos for an hour and my bud caught 4 largest at 1.5 I nailed 1 dink on a black'blue blue tipped senko Then we started drifting the out side grass when the wind picked up,My partner proceeded to catch 10 fish all dinks except two keepers 1.5 and a 2.8-3lb bass all on a white/chartreuse spinnerbait I missed a 2lber on a swimbait with a 5/0 hook and a 1/4 oz tungsten weight, on the first cast with it,so I was interested in the bait Caught a dink with the swimbait by swimming then killing the action I was waking it later and nailed a solid 3-3.5 lb fish 30-35ft out and the bass proceeded to get me stuck in a weedbed luckily I had a 7ft heavy baitcaster and 80lb test braid, I just put all 225lbs of me behind the rod pulling and broke it free(thought I was gonna snap my rod but its a shimano so I would've got a free one causing me to really out some tension on it ;D) then swung it on board no problem ended the day when I caught a 2lber on a green/lite green swimbait all the other swimbait fish on a white color, of the course the swimbait wasnt a big bait just one of the 5in ones like a swim senko good time all in all wish there was more of a frog bite :-/ Anyone fishing the potomac should have a pretty good time right now, my buddy was getting bite all day and my fish came in sporadically, all under partly cloudy skies and like 87 degree temps, Anything moving should do the trick

Dean Rojas SPRO PRO Bronzeye Frog, or the Dean Rojas SPRO PRO Bronzeye Frog Jr??
ugh another frog thread they all catch fish with mostly solid fish and bigger and work very well in the summer thats all needed for a sticky right bass finatic ;D
-
What size line do YOU use on MH spinning rod??
I found a 7ft heavy spinning shimano rod awhile back for like 60 dollars I didnt have any lighter braid so I spooled it up with what I had 65lb power pro, now It's my favorite combo, used for weightless plastics anywhere but I favor it in grass note: no problems with braid on on the reel or rod but I am using a quantum energy PTi 30 model (year old) and it is huge so that helps alot, oh and like a baitcaster I tightened the drag all the way down ;D

movie | Baitshop
yeah there was alot of those stickers but didnt you find it funny? also if culprit was sponsoring the movie so much why didnt bill engvall use one of culprits newer baits to win? he was using a spinnerbait the whole time I am pretty sure it was a culprit spinnerbait but still why not a foxy craw or tail kicker :-?
-
Will Loomis?
I was just thinking about that... looking at their glx rods, 450bucks for an everyday looking rod :-? shouldn't they at least make it look like the newer much cheaper carrot sticks, dobyns, etc. etc. :-/

GY kreature bait
oh good since you didnt kill them I'll give you a tip step up to a heavier wire hook and larger size, like a gamakatsu superline hook either 4/0 or 5/0 extra wide gap
