  1. Did you catch the fish, sounds like you did but you didnt talk about landing it. I fished a pond/small lake(with Matt Strykul) a lot like the pond you found. Little structure and no grass, so spent the time walking the banks throwing a stick-ups, its bad when they are movable and when you snag um you have to reel the cover in :. Did not think to throw a buzzbait that is a good idea I love the finding a close by pond then nailing a good un' out of it That is GREAT story its cool how it was right under your nose the whole time.
  2. Look who's talking matt you went trespassing today to go fishing. you were told to leave and didnt right, then hid under a dock until the people left ;D funny stuff
  3. I dont think his show should be taken seriously like a teaching show Charlie is serious about being riduculous and funny while fishing ;D I remember watching a few years back he is fishing a small texas pond and catches a 4 pounder then a 9 pounder and goes crazy. right after that he calls some one at the classic saying KVD i'm coming for you, as a joke. the reporter tells KVD that charlie moore just caught a 9 pounder and continues the joke saying how are his chances, KVD double takes then says "charlie moore is that guy even in the tournement he's a nut!" HILARIOUS That might be what you were thinking about in terms of classic wins, because he said oh i basically just won the classic, I am on this podunk pond i dont even know where it is or how to get outta here Great Stuff
  4. Nice, good fishing and "testing" Do I see 6in. senko vs. 7.5" Gene Larew Ring Worm in your future
  5. hmmm interesting results, thats is pretty cool you did that little "experiment" Did you ever catch bass with the tiki stick when the senko couldnt and vice versa? I have found that when nothing is hitting the senko that a tiki stick will produce, but i never try it the other way around because if they are biting a senko i am pretty reluctant to switch :
  6. wed. night tourneys on the potomac That is pretty sick, should be crazy fun
  7. Pigsticker replied to Josh.'s topic in Fishing Reports
WTRDog that is an INCREDIBLE fish for mass. and a river no less, not a private pond or small trophy lake that just adds to that Amazing fish Fantastic job ;D
  8. Really Sorry guys I've been catching all my bass at Lake Accotink on wiggle rigs.LOL j/k. Matt Strykul stop talking about me.lol Um if you have permission to fish a private pond do others really need to know where it is? Jay i wouldnt go to that pond you have near your work and ask permission even if you told me i could, it is called turf/respect it is probably best to have a army mentality "dont ask, dont tell" If keeping your water secret means that much to you, which some ponds i know of are definitely worth it besides all the largest reported fish out of VA have came out of 2 places and it is a reallll secret what two places it is :
  9. "Can i pitch my bait into your dock" Matt Strykul "You wanna shake my shakey head"
  10. I've seen um and from what i've seen they look like white dinner plates
  11. You didnt come off as a smart arse, natalex since i think you are talking about swimming a jig not a Swim Jig. totally different LC, I would say generally you work a swim jig faster than a regular jig and not let it sit around too much. Your right , you reel with a few pops every now and then try shad or parrot colors(yellow white, and blue) and make it look like a bait fish.
  12. Hmmm difficult to explain easy to show. This might be of no relavence to you if you havent fished a fished a grub, but i fish them exactly like one of mister twisters old fashioned twisty tailed grubs A More technical sounding way is to let the jig fall on slack line then reel in while gently lifting and dropping the rod tip and every now and then stop and let the swim jig sit on the bottom hope this helps
  13. the camo highlights gets my vote because it is the most low key one of the selection. i would pick the all camo truck if you were sponsored by mossy oak or another camo company lol ;D
  14. I have fished both and there is a path around both lakes no one gave me any probelms their but the lack of grass is not too fun. Thoreau is DEEP except for some unfishable shallows. Audubon is shallow with lots of docks but you cant go on any docks. You probably will have no probelm fishing there but there are much better places to fish. hope this helps
  15. you should checks the deps frog
  16. oooh mattawoman what a nice place when it isnt a seaport full of boats LOL. That is a good place i have fished there a good amount last year but later spring and mid summer. i would always try a spro frog there even if the grass hasnt gotten super thick. But if the grass isnt crazy yet i would weightless t-rig a senko or worm(dark) or with a little weight and if your into cranking then crank shallow divers over the grass worked as slow as you can go. Also if you can make a little longer run i would recomend chicamuxen i love that place. I would also look for the edge of grass beds and fish along there good luck
  17. Mortons? : Nice but ive always been partial to The Palm ;D
  18. Really you cant fit a 7 to 7'6'' in your car? i have fit 7'6'' pvc tubes(with rods in them) in to very small cars you just put them in diagonally in the car.
  19. For Grass: Junebug, red shad For Wood: Natural, pumpkinseed with green and black flake
  20. I've fished some big jigs in that style of grass and i get the same annoying probelm. The jig seems to be a magnet for any speck of grass. i have swam swim jigs in sparse hydrilla that works really well but i have never applied it to the cover your talking about. It should work. But i, like you found that a t-rigged worm is very weedless in these situations and is the better option imo
  21. Fourbizz i think he is talking about that there are 1 or 2 ten pounders in his lake(not him catching them) but it is confusing the way he puts it. I could be wrong there, i have never done well in any english class :-/. Hey bass assasin trying throwing a 7in. senko t-rigged for better quality
  22. I saw a show a long time ago that was showing northern strain bass with yellowish tint on their bellies. Although i have never caught a northern strain largemouth before except a few 2 lbers on a road trip awhile back. Then i caught some some bass from a pond here in virginia and the fish had complete yellow guts. i knew those bass were florida strains because a ranger told me who knew the pond for 30 yrs. I found out that tannic water will stain white guts on LMs so much for that idea : But i think in temperment and geographic location u could roughly guessimate if it is a northern or florida. Like deadsticking stickbaits works very well on floridas and moving stickbaits faster would work better for northerns
  23. Ive heard about this guy from espn. He is a trophy hunters that uses a lot of large shiners in florida to catch alot of big bass. I think i heard on a show his pb was 17 pounds so i believe that fish is 18.5 note I am not smashing this guy for using live bait. It takes tremendous skill to catch monster bass and to do it consistently is crazy. IF i could use live bait and catch bass like that i would. I just prefer artificial.
  24. Yeah pvc tubing is perfect for baitcasters and cardboard tubes are great too. I have a bunch of cardboard tubes from ordering rods online. Packing rods for flying gets trickier when you have larger spinning rods with those big eyelets near the reel seat. But if you dont tard it up then there shouldnt be any probelms
