Anyone have any experience with the baby shad? they are a neat looking little bait. Just wondering if anyone has had any success with them.

Barnes is also a very good coach. He rebuilt the basketball program at Clemson I believe before taking over at Texas. He has been recruiting at a very high level the last few years as well.

Hard to argue with the results Self gets at Kansas. I don't think the conference is great, but the Kansas team can line 'em up and play with anyone in the country. They are really good this year.

I usually use 15 or 17 lb mono. Got some berkley big game 20 lb mono at wally world for 2.00 each. Going to give them a try this year.

Agree wholeheartedly. Watching him on the bass pro videos, it is clear that he is very skilled and adept. He explains things so they seem so simple, yet nobody else can do them ....at least not to his level. He is just heads and shoulders above everybody right now.

Just read on espn that the fish are not released at Beeswax creek, they are taken far from the launch site and released into the main river channel.

I think it's great. She had a terrific showing and finished ahead of such notables as Skeet Reese, Alton Jones, Kevin Short to name a few. I don't think there needs to be a separate tour(although it was and still would be nice) and think the women would do well. I don't know how "welcome" they would be made to feel by other anglers. IMO, as long as they had the same restrictions regarding qualifications, they should be allowed on tour.

Paul, I normally fish my lipless cranks on a 6.3:1 gear ratio reel. I have some slower and some faster reels, but this allows me to slow down yet allows me to speed up if necessary. That must have been awesome to see the fish whack your bait, and disappointing all the same to see him spit it.

In one of the bass pros videos, KVD states that he likes the 5.1:1 gear ratio for lipless cranks. No idea what the Squirrel or Russ Lane were using.

Time will tell about Weber. He has had some tough breaks in the recruiting arena...Gordon to Indiana and Evan Turner to the Buckeyes. Looking past the recruiting, I thought he did a wonderful job w/ the national runner-ups a few years ago. I know he didn't recruit all of them, but they were still 30 some odd wins and 2 losses. Coaching certainly played a role in that. We will see how he does in the next few years. No disrespect taken.

no, i catch and release everything. But, I do appreciate all you guys giving me pointers on how to handle the catfish. I was confused because I thought it was the whiskers that stung you. Now I know you have to beware of the fins. Thanks everyone.

how about a couple rubber bands...top and bottom of each glow stick? obviously, the bands could not interfere with your line.

Do you guys use a special rod for catfish, or just one of your bass rods?

I have some experience shooting a bow...about 35 years now. My recommendation to you is to go to a reputable dealer and shoot the bows you are interested in. One bow in particular will feel like it is made for you. Don't just pick them up and hold them, you need to shoot them. During this process, the dealer should be working with you on your draw length and a reasonable draw weight. Find the bow for you and then decide when and where you are going to purchase. It is well worth the money to go to a trained pro shop than to purchase a bow off the internet, thinking you are saving a hundred or two, only to find out the bow doesn't fit you. If the draw length and draw weight do not work for you, you will never shoot as accurately as possible. And if you are going to be hunting, you owe it to the animals to make your most accurate, humane shot.

Thats cool. When I was in college, I had a friend who fixed a few of us some deep fried walleye that he caught up around Maumee. Best meal I have ever had.

When I was in college back in the early 80's, I whipped the crap of two different bars. It wasn't even that close. I must admit that my hands were sore the next day. In all seriousness, a few, all terrifying. I did witness two black belts kick the ever-loving crap out of two trouble makers though. The sound of a trained fighters foot striking another man's head is sickening.

I have little to no experience with catfish. I watched an episode of in-fisherman and am thinking about maybe doing some catfishing this summer. My question is this, How do you hold them to get the hook out? I have heard about them stinging a person? What is it that I have to be aware of and where is it located on the fish?
