  1. I'm prefishing on Toledo this weekend. Weather is just like I like it. Rain, cloudy, windy(To a point). List is as follows: Frogs (If I find the grass I'm looking for) Chugbug (Chrome/Blueback) Sammy 100 (American Shad) Buzzbait (Black) spinnerbaits 3/8oz. (White, Blue Glimmer) Trap (Chrome/Blueback, Crawfish, & Browneye) Luckycraft cranks(Shad) Senko (Watermellon/Red, PB&J, Camo) Lake Fork 7 1/4 ring worm (Camo, PB&J) Jigs 3/8oz. (Camo, Black/Blue) I will be fishing flats, points, ditches, drains, and creeks in the midlake area.
  2. I start with a T-rig, wacky , then C-rig. Just let the fish tell you.
  3. A fishing lure is nothing but a tool designed to help you catch fish. Try not to fall in love with one type. You are only limiting yourself. Time on the water is important to me and I will not waste(On purpose) any minute of it. You are just cheating yourself out of possibly catching a lot of fish or a toad. If you want to watch it go through the water slip into a neighborhood pool, mix a drink, catch a tan, and enjoy. On second thought than does not sound to bad.
  4. I suggest picking an area and learn it. Much easier than running up and down a lake not knowing when and where to wet a line. Map study and lots of it. It will lead you to an area that will produce. You stated the type of water you have been fishing. Probably the upper ends of a lake to begin with would allow you to fish to your strengths. Good luck Jack
  5. He's an ex seal. Told the 911 operator during the chase he would kill them if he caught them. They let him go home and arrested two or three of the runners. Good decision.
  6. I'll post a response this afternoon, tommorrow, next week, or next year, MAYBE...
  7. You can go either way. Just make sure the paint you spray over the existing paint is compatible with what you allready have on the boat. Otherwise it could lift or bubble. No lacquer over enamel or vise versa without a sealer.
  8. I just don't look at the hull when it's on the trailer. Makes me sleep a little better. LOL
  9. I am pretty sure he is refering to the Lowrance Globalmap 3000 unit.
  10. I have both. Navionics is by far the better choice. The newer models come with high Def. on a lot of the lakes and the detail is a lot better.
  11. Give me a call and we can meet up.
  12. About 10-12" if you are careful and don't overload it. Depends on the hull design, but most will float in a foot of water.
  13. Are you in a boat? If so, get out and check out the timber that is out by itself and follow a breakline making sure to seine any timber associated with it. Get in the deepest part of the lake and find and fish anything that is on the bottom.
  14. When I repack I run the nut completely down snug and then back off a half a turn or so. I repack all four hubs every 8-12 months, new bearings and races every two years. Thirty plus years of towing 10,000-15,000+ a year and never, ever lost a bearing or seal. FYI, bearing buddies are the cause of most bearing and seal failures. Well, the people that use them ruin the rear seals by pumping too much grease into the hub. That's another story though. Better to be a little loose than a little too tight.
  15. Probably due to over population and lack of suitable forage. I guarantee you though there are several toads cruising in that body of water. Try fishing it at night when the weather warms and stay deep and see what happens.
  16. Cell phones with cameras are like GPS when it comes to proving a point. Put the pic on your phone if you have to show it off and take a pic of the MPH GPS reading to prove a point. GPS is the number one killer of mph on a boat. Just as a cell phone pic(Or any other pic) of a bass is the number one reason for the loss of weight.
  17. Just goes to show you it ain't the arrow, it's the indian. 80% of the fish are caught by 10% of the fishermen reguardless of the equipment used. Big, fast, boats have caused the catch rate to drop for many. They have the "let's check there itis". Spend way too much time running up and down the lake. My Skeeter has a 28 gallon tank that usually last me three + days on the water.
  18. Just wondering why Skeeter was left off the list?
  19. BASS went to hell when Ray turned it over to Helen.
  20. 1984 on Rayburn. No fish, spent a night in the woods(Boat had been pushed up on the bank due to wave height), took a boat to drag it back into the water when they located me at 9:00am the next morning(No cell phone back then). Cold, wet, but glad to have made it.
  21. Our club has a tournament on Toledo that weekend. Unless they change it I am fishing the club. Would love to fish it but unless they decide to make a change I will be on the big pond as Catt calls it.
  22. I'm going up Friday and Saturday to do some prefishing. Will be putting in at Alpine and up at the little bridge near Carrice Creek. Will give a report when I get back. Anyone on here remember when it was known as Alpine Fly-in? If you do you go way back.
