The Bass Pro Shop in Garland Texas sponsered a Battle of the Texas Bass Clubs last spring over here on Lake Ray Hubbard. Why not contact them or Academy about doing it over there. Ours was a great success, so much so that they have committed to doing an annual deal every spring. Both companies over here are very commited to this and it is even better if your clubs have children fishing. BPS called every junior angler to the stage last year and presented them with a new rod/reel combo. If you try to deal with BPS get it going before they commit all of their money out. They try to have it all finished before the first of the year. You do not have to go to the top either. Each BPS store has a budget that they can use for promotions. Each club was required to have at least 5 boats and to keep it on a level field the top 10 teams from each club were used to compile the total weight for each day. All clubs had at least 10 boats fishing and some clubs had as many as 20+ boats entered. It worked out well. Entry fees were $200.00 a club and all money was paid back to the top three clubs. We finished second and our club used the money to help send our top 6 to the Texas state championship. Good luck

Now you understand the feel of jig fishing. The whole idea is to get 5 quality bites a day instead of feeding off dinks. Keep at it and watch your line. Many bites you will never feel, just see the line jump or move to one side. Good luck, keep it up, it is worth the effort.

We fish right through where I live. Many days I have questioned my sanity when the temp gets unberable; however, that is usually in the summer, not winter. I can take the 30-40 degrees a lot better than the 95-105 temps we face here in July, August, and parts of September. The better fishing and the larger fish are usually caught from October-April anyway.

I run XP. Never heard of the other. If your friend swears by it make sure he is qualified to make such a statement. I heard rumors a lot about whether one is better than another. Usually they are pie in the sky. His might be better for gaming as some are, therefore he thinks it is the best, so be careful.

I do 95% of my fishing with a baitcaster. When I dropshot I use a 7' Speck rod and fish it with 6-8lb line. Very seldom do I break off. The Speck rod is a med. wt. rod that allows me to fish this way without breaking off on the hookset. No problems casting the light stuff with my Curados or Revos. At this moment both spinning outfits are loaded with braid.

I have spent most of my time from Pallo Gaucho Creek north to Huxley Bay area. Just what I have gotten comfortable with. I intend to spend a lot more time around the six mile and Housen bay area in the future. Catt, that is an area I will be calling on you for lots of help and information if you do not mind. I read your post concerning the idea to try to get the anglers in the area for a Texas Louisiana get together on Toledo Bend and I am looking forward to getting it put together.

I had a teller give me way too much money. Called her and told her she made a mistake on the money. she preceded to tell me any mistake would have to be fixed when she checked up at the end of the day. She was very irrate on the phone with me. At 7:30 that evening she was sweet as apple pie when she called looking for the extra 100.00 she was short that day. She said she had to make it correct before leaving the bank. I told her I was too busy at the moment and she should have taken the time to talk with me earlier that day. Made her settle it herself and carried it to the bank the next day. Did not give it to her though. Gave it to a manager and let them know how I was talked to the day before. She did not last long at the drive through.
