OK .... I think I am pretty much done with flourocarbon lines!!!!
Hey all.... I started a thread a while back about flouro and the difficulty of use etc. I did get many good suggestions from folks on the board here about what brand to use and how to treat it, how to spool it up, using KVD L+L on it, and many more opinions and suggestions. Well............ I spent quite a bit of money on various brands, and since most are made in the same factories in Japan, I am not sure there is much difference. I am STILL having problems with the line curling up on the spool of my baitcasters and "professional over runs". With the improvements in braided line and their ease of use, I just don't see what all the hoopla is about. To me, I just can't see having to worry all the time about this line. I would rather be fishing then worrying about will the line backlash, will I break it off, and on and on.... I can understand flouros benefit when bed fishing and for some finesse presentations but that's about it. I even asked Timmy Horton if lite braid could be used for cranking and he didn't say no....just that he prefers flouro. Can someone here convince me why I should continue the "flouro" quest?? Is it REALLY worth it???? :-/ Thanks, ajr

braid color wearing off
You should hope it looses its color...... Less visability under water. The better question is, when braid looses its color, is it weakened and is it time for it to be changed?? ajr

Saw an interesting thing today...
Hey all... I was shore fishing today and walked along a beach area. I saw a nice size bass about 10 ft. from shore. A small school of baby perch came by and this bass went after them like a shot!! Then it came back to where it had been setting. I watched for a while but the first catch I took, I spooked it. If the water wasn't still so cold, I would swear this fish was guarding a bed. Too early.....right??? ajr :-?

Bargain Cave
basspro.... I am pretty sure the Lowrance 5000 and 5000c are GPS chartplotter units only. If you are looking for a fish finder/GPS, or just a fish finder, better double check you purchase. I hope you got what you were looking for. I almost made that mistake. i was looking for a 520c and almost bought a 5200c, which is only a GPS unit. ood luck!!!

Lowrance owners...compatability question????
Hey folks, I just purchased two Lowrance 520c units for the boat. Will I need to both install both GPS antennas???? Will I need to use two Navionics cards or will one do? Thanks... ajr

Live Bait VS PLastics?? Which do you prefer? Which works best?
You opened up a "can of worms" here....no pun intended. This topic comes up every once in a while. For the most part tournament bass fishing doesn't allow livel bait although, I am sure there are live bait tournaments. I feel it takes more skill to use artificial baits but that having been said, I don't feel there is anything wrong with using live bait. But there is a difference in skill level. Some members here use both. Some of the trophy hunters, I am told, use live bait. The question has even been brought up should there be live bait bass records and seperate artificial lure records??? I think it's a good question.... :

Compatibility questions with Lowrance 522c and 520c any help appreciated..
Hello folks... My buddy and I are currently upgrading the electronics on our boat. I have ordered a Lowrance 520c for the console and was going to put a 510c at the bow, however, I have an opportunity to buy a new Lowrance 522c at a great price instead of the 510c. My question is this: Will these two units be compatible sonar and GPS wise? (I believe they will.) Will the internal antenna on the 522c interfere with the external antenna on the 520c or vice versa? Is it a benefit or a problem to have basically the same unit, but one with an internal and the other with an external antenna? Thanks for any help!!!!!

How would you fish this lake
Mann's makes the Minus series...from wake to -4 ft (4ft. and up) in the shallow crank series. I used them in the spring after ice out last year with great success. ajr

How would you fish this lake
Oh...I forgot.....a Mann's Minus 1 sounds like a MUST in this situation!!!

How would you fish this lake
Hey John, Anyone who watches "City Limit Fishing" with IKE knows that large bass are very adaptable and can live in polluted water. Do you want to fish there is the question?? We have a pond here in RI that is part of a chain of polluted ponds. It is fished alot (many T's there). It smells, literally, and I swear, your hands burn just touching the water. Last T a young guy caught a 7lber out of there. But to the question: I would try a buzzbait or a small, light, spinnerbait like a SK Rocket Shad. A creature bait hopped along the deeper areas of the shallow pond might work with a light weight ahead of it. PS Anywhere it's shallow, and there is a little cover, I would throw a frog or toad also. Good luck!!!!! AJR

Hard times hitting B.A.S.S Elite series tournaments.....
There are many changes coming to or already put in place by BASS that appear to be "squeezing out" the little guy. (No more co-anglers for one) It's all about cash with them...everyone knows that. I don't really hear anyone on here praising BASS anymore. They talk about their favorite anglers, and yes, most of them are in BASS....because of the MONEY..full circle!!! FLW is still the little guys best chance to fulfill their dream and rise up the ladder if they are skilled enough. Hey, isn't that what bass USED TO be about!!!! ESPN and BASS are sucking the life out of fishing and using it like a blow up doll!!!! BOOOOO!!! to them both!!!! > ajr

TOO MUCH TACKLE
I was at BPS when Brent Chapman was there giving a talk. He actually spoke about carrying too much tackle when he was starting off and that now that he knows what works (colors etc.) he takes a limited amount of tackle with him in his boat. I was surprised because there supposed to get you to BUY tackle. Makes sense though...how many things in your bag or boat will NEVER hit the water?? ajr

Any Luck Yet?
Got this pig 1 1/2 weeks ago the day the ice left. It was 65* that day and she hit a 165 Sebile Magic Swimmer (natural shiner) I was throwing from shore. 3.5-4 lbs. Since then, just a couple of small dinkers.... Hope to have the boat in the water soon!!!! ajr

Hello all

How many of you are Right handed but use a Left hand retrieve Bait cast reel?
I learned to fish with a spinning reel with the reel handle on the left hand side even though I am right handed. When I learned to use a baitcaster, muscle memory took over and I had a hard time with the handle on the right side. I now have five baitcast reels, all "left handed" and that's what I prefer. I can use a "right handed" baitcaster...I don't prefer it. PS A few of the Elite series anglers use the "wrong" handed baitcasters. I started to notice after this question came up a few times. ajr
