  15. Dwight, I think it's NORMAL for certain groups of fish to be seperated like this during the entire year. Sometimes there are more or bigger fish pods shallow than deep or visa versa... For the majority of this year, I've found many more shallow pattern fish but as you know we have to work everything to know for sure. The deeper bites have averaged out to be larger fish but less of them. I like deeper pattern fishing when the wind allows because I feel these fish are much less pressured by fishermen and/or weather changes. When this bite gets RIGHT, you can WRECK'EM Red, You'll never look back after fishing that color... everything else will often take a back Big O www.ragetail.com
  16. Windy cold front conditions made the fishing slow and tedious for me... but sometimes that's the way I need it. Working each stop with meticulous detail to leave no fish untouched My first stop that morning was actually a great warm up with relatively calm winds and the fish were chewin' big time on a 1oz Big O Brush Jig and Rage Lobster in Falcon Lake Craw color, but nothing over 7 after too many fish... I had two bite depths patterned, one being in an average 10 to 12 ft range and the other being 23 to 25 ft. The first fish were on the shallower bite so I decided to ck a couple of deeper haunts for better size. The first deep spot I tried gave me lack luster results with only two smaller than average fish, so I blamed it on the heavy cross wind and moved on to the next.... This area was windy but the structure type was set up so that the wind and the direction was my FRIEND Holding the boat in 40 ft and casting directly in a head wind to a 20 ft ledge then dragging the jig off the drop proved to be the ticket. On the 3rd or fourth cast I hit a nice 9 or so then a few casts later - PAYDIRT Big MAMA comes a CALLIN She ate the jig n Lobster at about 25 ft and we played "Stretch The String" for a little while What a pretty fish when she surfaced in the big waves beside the boat rollin her baby blues at me... I fell in love instantly! She came from the deep and was slightly bloated so I placed a couple of flip clips on her belly fins and gave her an hour or so in my livewell to adjust her air (I like this technique more than fizzing) Then caught a couple of more healthy fish from that same area but this gal was the "Singin Fat Lady" of the day... After the photo, I promised to visit her again and let her go back to the deep! I think God gives us FISHIN as a glimpse of HEAVEN And BTW, that's one of the St. Croix 7'11" Rage Rods that I call my HAWG BEATERS Big O www.ragetail.com
  17. "Why the Falcon Lake Craw color works" - This Chart shows the same craws as noted on the link that RW posted... I think that many of us see Craw to Craw If you notice the name in the bottom right illustration "Orconectes Rusticus", Reckon the color of RUST has anything to do with that Big O www.ragetail.com
