With the new super moisture wicking fabrics avaliable now, I always wear long sleves with a SPF of 30+. Also check out the sun screen fingerless gloves available, very thin and comfortable. Although not fashionable on tour, the wide brim hats (not somberoros sp?) will keep the ears safe. There are even some face guards avaliable now. Remember to protect the face as reflected sun off the water can be extremely damaging. Alas sun damage usually takes years to show up as skin cancer, so protect now to prevent later. Take it from one who knows, skin cancer is no fun.

Fluro burns very easily when cinching the palomar down and weakens the knot if it is not wet, very wet! KVD Line & Lure Conditioner works very well for this application also. A lot of anglers prefer the "hangman" type of knots for fluro, the uniknot, trilene, improved clinch etc.. If you're worried about slippage, just tie a stop knot in the trailing end.

I have used both for years, even before freespool baitcasters. If I had to choose one though it would be the spinning reel because of the versatility it has. With the right rod and reel combinations you can fish for anyting from bluegill to tuna and beyond. I love my baitcasters, but they just aren't as versatile, especially in extreme finess situations. Power Pro has great tips for using it on their web site. Also when you think you need to change line just reel it on another reel and you have fresh unused braid ready to be used. The used part is now on the bottom of the spool. Line lasts twice as long.

Never tried toothpaste, I have always used chrome polish. I will definitely try toothpaste because it's cheaper.

I usually fish deep this time of year, especially during midday hours, Look for humps, ledges etc. 10-15ft close to deeper water. I use deep cranks, carolina rigged soft plastics, jig&pig etc. Fish em s-l-o-w and hang on!!!! Of course I'm talking highland type lakes not rivers.

If ESPN had started the Elite Series with no co-anglers as it should be, there would be no problem to discuss now. They were looking at the dollars riding in the back.
