Flipping Jigs What is Your Favorite
I like the booyah boo jigs. They come through brush better than most.

when is your bass opener?
A bass season??? Why would anyone live somewhere that restricted the days you can fish for bass? Unbelievable. In Texas its 365 24/7. Anyone who proposed a season would be shot.

Bass from today
I'm not sure if that last one was even over 4 ounces. The senko he hit was longer than him. Silly fish

Bass from today
Had a pretty good day today, I caught around 25 bass. The biggest was just over 4lbs, and I caught several 2's and 3's as well. Today I caught most of them on a wacky-rigged senko on a drop shot. I also caught some on fat ikas, flappin hogs, and a lake fork tackle magic shad.

Best state for bass fishing?
I'm going to have to go with East Texas. (yeah, I know, my name gives it away)

Favorite Stained Water Lures!
When the water gets really murky I like to use a black and blue chatterbait with a black gycb kreature as a trailer. Its bulky, easy to see, and puts off a loud thump. Any bass nearby can find it with ease. A slow-rolling retrieve seems to work best, moving it just fast enough to keep the blade thumping.

What are you REALLY good at ? (OK to brag here ;-)
I'm really good at getting my fishing buddies to curse at me. Sometimes when I'm catching most of the fish I like to rub it in a bit, just for kicks. "Its real nice of you guys to come along and watch me catch these fish today" ;D

Worm Fishing Preference
X2 I use all 3 in that depth range. Which one depends more on the wind, the bottom type, the activity level of the fish, and most importantly the available structure/cover.

March 2nd Bass
Had a great day yesterday. Didn't catch any monsters but I caught over 30 bass in about 7 hours. The best fish was on a jig w/ flappin hog. Also caught some on senkos, fat ikas, lake fork tackle magic shads, and a spinnerbait.

Painting bullet weights?
I use magic markers to do the coloring and then apply a clear coat of nail polish. I haven't had any problems with chipping but there aren't many rocky areas in the waters I fish.

Battery question
The battery I use for my trolling motor and depth finder (electric only boat) isn't holding a charge nearly as long as it used to. I used to be able to use the one battery all day. Now I have to switch to another battery after using this one for just a few hours. A buddy suggested putting an aspirin in each side of the battery to get it going again? Anyone heard of this or maybe a real additive that can get my battery to work again, or is it just time to buy another battery? I just bought this battery last year, I thought it would last longer than one season.

day of dinkslaying
Went out for a nice day of dink catching yesterday. Didn't catch anything over 3lbs but the dinks were hitting everything. I caught a few on a jig, a few on a t-rigged flappin hog, over a dozen on a spinnerbait, and a couple on a soft plastic swimbait.

Cold water largemouth tactics
I like to throw a jig in cold water, although it never gets quite so cold down here. The only time I saw ice in the water was when I spilled my drink.

Best Creature Bait????????
gycb flappin hogs and kreatures, zoom baby brush hog. I always have at least one of those ready to go.

What is your favorite fishing situation?
60-70 degrees, very cloudy with a slight wind from the west. morning after the new moon, buzzbaits over grass. Bass on every other cast.

Booyah Boo Jig
I love the booyah boo jig, but I use a gycb flappin hog for a trailer.

What did you catch your personal best on?
A GYCB Flappin hog in color 301 (green pumpkin green and purple flake) t-rigged with a 3/0 Gammy EWG and a 1/4 oz tungsten weight. Weighed 10 pounds 2 ounces, caught on Feb 10th 2008.

Tackle Buying
I'll shop around online to see what I want, but I always end up buying my stuff in person. I'm fortunate to have a Basspro, Dick's sporting goods, FishingWorld, and Barlow's Tackle within a 20 minute drive from where I live. With Barlow's I can call in an order from the catalog, then just swing by and pick it up on my way home from work. Makes it so hard to resist the bait monkey...

MegaStrike Scent
1. you can use the bait immediately. 2. I reapply when I can't smell it on the bait anymore, or after a fish. It lasts a long time, so its usually applied after I catch a fish. 3. I put it on EVERYTHING. I even put a dab on spinnerbaits. I think it can mean the difference between a 'follow' and a 'strike' in some situations. On jigs and plastics I put a nice coating.

Does burning baits only apply to lipless cranks?
I was catching fish after fish last Friday burning a white spinnerbait. Burning a spinnerbait is a great way to get a reaction strike, especially around or above grass beds. I like to move it fast enough so that the blades break the surface just a bit, and it makes a little bit of a wake. And by the way, there are no "rules" in bass fishing! I certainly wouldn't follow the one you mention there. I use a willow/colorado combo almost all the time, winter or summer.

When will a bass bite again after being caught?
I did the same last fall. I pitched a flappin hog into a brush pile and got a strike. I set the hook and the fish immediately wrapped up in some brush and broke off. I took another pass at this brushpile a couple hours later and caught the same fish, with my hook and about 2 feet of line attached to the side of his mouth. I couldn't believe it. Just an hour later he fell for the same lure.

New Lure Broke My Losing Streak!
One of my most consistent lures lately has been a 4.5 inch Lake Fork Tackle Magic Shad on a chatterbait head. I've thrown away the skirts from all of my chatterbaits and replaced them with live magic shads. Even on colder days it has done well for me slow rolled along the bottom. I reel it just fast enough so that I can feel the blade thumping.
