  1. And they last forever if you take care of them. I don't know how old this reel is but I think I bought it in the 1970s. Hopefully someone will be able to date it. I still use it often and never had a problem. Money well spent!
  2. Tatulatard It was a cheap no-name BFS rod but I liked the specs. I have one I had been using for years but it is not a true BFS rod. I saw this and thought I'd give it a try. BTW I'll get a name next time I get on the site.
  3. Is the boat kept inside or outside? I never had a problem with mildew if the boat was kept inside and dry. Outside and damp is a problem. If I had to keep seats outside I would cover them or take them off and store them inside before they became mildew or wet.
  4. Thanks again guys. Maybe I'll have it for Christmas. Bulldog you mentioned Chicago twice. Last spring and summer my son had three packages from overseas disappear in Chicago. He had been working with a Postal Inspector and she told him there was a serious problem with theft in Chicago. Unfortunately the three packages never showed up.
  5. Are there Lake Trout in the lake by your lake house? Many years ago when I fished and hunted Quebec the locals used similar reels to troll "Christmas Trees" or "Cow Bells" for lake trout.
  6. That's great to know. I'm going to order the rod and give it a shot.
  7. It would be AE. I may give it a try since it is not a lot of money. I guess my one and only experience with JDM stuff spoiled me.
  8. Thanks Guys!! I have a feeling they are shipping via a fishing Junk. ? I just cannot believe anything would take 2 months to get from Asia to here in 2023.
  9. Thanks for the "heads up". He has some nice tackle and close to my house in NE PA.
  10. I recently made my first JDM purchase. The shipping time was incredibly fast, about a week. Because of that experience I started exploring other sites in Asia. I just looked at a rod on a Chinese site and the estimated delivery date for my ZIP code would be March 31, 2023. I have never purchased anything directly from China but I'm curious if their shipping times are a misprint, a miscommunication or are they really that slow?
  11. Next year, 30-40k range? At the rate things are going you may be able to get into a 12' Jon and if your lucky maybe a 14' Jon. ? Seriously our economy is in trouble and inflation is not easing anytime soon. I also wanted to upgrade to a slightly bigger boat but not until the economy and prices stabilize and who knows when that will be.
  12. I have the Terrova. It is probably over 10 years old now.
  13. I have spot lock on my 12V Minn Kota. I also have a remote and a pedal. I use both and I think they compliment each other. IF I had to give up one it would be the petal because the remote has more options.
  14. Four and six pound is all I usually use for drop shot. If my main line is heavy I may attach the lighter line with a swivel. I have zero issues using light line except I seem to catch more fish if that's a problem. ?
  15. Is this for real? If not what am I missing here? https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803138145130.html?ug_edm_item_id=3256803138145130&pdp_npi=2%40dis!USD!US %243%2C174.68!US %241%2C587.34!!!!!%40212a7d7116742348882484632dcf2d!12000025215558030!edm&edm_click_module=alg_product_l1r2_2937365560&creative_img_ind=1&tracelog=rowan&rowan_id1=aeug_edm_41192_1_en_US_2023-01-20&rowan_msg_id=fwp3COWS_41192_%249f4d9f0d0bb24e85baa7dde7d513b262&ck=in_edm_other&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa&_randl_shipto=US
  16. I believe I read about that being done in Vietnam.
  17. Leaser has a history of problems. It is not the norm in PA. How many times have they drained Leaser and repaired or replaced the dam? I remember at least three times and each time they had to restock. Each time it took time to rebuild the fishery and each time fishermen had to wait for the restocking to produce catchable fish. There is nothing in SE PA to compare to a place like Champlain. We have way more fishermen and much less water down here.
  18. I am also from SE PA. The bass in this section of PA see a lot of pressure and that affects our fishing. When I fish down there and the fishing is tough I slow down and downsize.
  19. I suspect there is some evaporation. The chartreuse bottle in my tray is almost 3 years old but half empty. I do use it frequently. The red bottle is about one year old and also half empty. I do not use it nearly as much as the chartreuse. Why half empty? Maybe I should start marking the bottles with a sharpie to keep track. BTW I have a bottle of "Spike It" at my house up the mountains. It is over 5 years old but it is at least half full and it also gets used frequently. I think it is a similar formulation to JJ's. It is kept in my basement up there and it seldom gets warm even in summer.
  20. I have an 806. I'm very happy with the rod and a surprising aspect is that I have been able to throw lightweight baits in addition to heavy swim baits.
  21. No one mentioned "Sight Flash". Seriously they have way too many great colors.
  22. This tray has worked for me for at least 15 or 20 years. I do keep the boat inside and that helps with the JJ's not exposing it to different temperatures.
  23. If there is a good car detail shop near you ask them. I had a car that had been in a flood and a detail shop used some kind of commercial liquid to treat the rugs for mold and smell.
