What lure caught your largest bass in 2022 ?
I bought my son a pack of Xzone 3" Ned Zone worms. He caught one bass that was exactly 5 LB in a local lake and a few days later caught another that was 5 lb 1 oz and a big gill at my buddy's pond. All were caught on the same worm. I guess we'll be ordering more.

Berkley stunna
I picked up a few Stunnas for a trip to Lake Champlain earlier this year. We did good on SM, especially over rock piles and I had one tied on most of the trip. We also picked up many small pike fishing weed lines with them. When we came home I used them in some local lakes and ponds and I'm happy with the results. My gut feeling is they seem to produce better than some of the jerk baits I normally use.

The Fight
Many years ago I had a close friend I'll call Steve. He was acknowledged as one of the best fishermen in the region. He consistently won many if not most of the regional tournaments. Steve was hooked up with a lot of fly fishermen from central PA many of whom were published authors and recognized as fly fishing experts. I knew many of the names from Outdoor Life, Field & Stream, and other publications. One time Steve invited me to fish with him on the Yellow Breeches and the Letort. We camped in a gentleman's backyard on the Letort. One night we had a campfire and about 6 or 8 of the authors and others showed up. They began to argue about the best fighting fish. Some said it was the bass and most said it was the brown trout. Steve did not say anything. They then turned to Steve and asked him what he thought was the best fighting fish and he replied: "pound for pound the carp is the best fighting freshwater fish". There was a brief moment of silence and then the subject changed. No one was going to argue with Steve because they knew who he was but also maybe because they knew he was right. ?

Crappie and Bass in Winter
And so do pike. And to make things interesting those same pike eat my crappie minnows. Life is good!?

How much do y’all talk about fishing in your daily life
I have a "friend" who had his prostrate removed about 15 years ago. I still hear about his surgery and the aftermath. It does get old. ? I have my sons and a group of friends I fish with and we talk "fishing". Other friends have no interest and the subject never comes up.

Evergreen Colors?
Mine are original and sharp.

Evergreen Colors?
It's actually a clear body with a chartreuse top that I usually use in clearer water but I also believe that the movement and commotion on the surface are what attract the fish. I think they are more important than color. I do believe Skeleton Chartreuse will work in dirty water but I cannot recall using it in very dirty water. The thing I like about the Skeleton Chartreuse is that you can usually see the chartreuse top and know where the lure is and what is happening to it. I have had other lures I was fishing on top that just disappeared or I thought they disappeared because I lost sight of them. Bright colors on top help me keep track of lures in the thick stuff.

Evergreen Colors?
I agree about white or bone-colored baits. The OP could also buy the Skeleton Chartreuse Shower Blow. Oh, but that has no paint just a clear bottom but another good color. ?

Odd color topwaters/other lures
My lure list would include your colors and add chrome/silver and yellow or chartreuse for hard baits but that is because they are the colors I buy based on previous experience and what I read. My soft baits and frogs are all over the color spectrum. Seriously I don't think colors matter that much compared to how and where the lure is fished.

How to fish after this cold
Yep! For me, I'll need to start with an ice auger. ☺️

Bring it on Down to Jankytown - Questionable Boat Mods
Rakes were a common "rock guard" on the Susquehanna for years. But I will say the breakaway attachment system is unusual. ?

Anybody Ever Get Caught Without Their License?
Talk about a "timely" incident. I have been a member of the Penn Warner club in SE PA since 1963. I have never seen a game warden or fish warden at the club in all those years and I spend a lot of time up there. A few days ago I put together a rod and reel to use for light lures like small jerk baits and jigs. This past Wednesday, the 21st, my son and I decided to go to the club and make a few casts, try out the rod, and maybe catch a few crappies. We were on the dock when the "fish wardens" (AKA Waterways Conservation Officers) showed up. I was very surprised to see anyone out there, especially them. I guess they were as bored as we were! ?

What Lure Is This?
I was reading the thread about secret lures and decided to post this. I've had this lure for many years. It is one of those lures that catch fish for me when others fail. I have stopped using it because I'm worried about losing it. I do not remember where I got it or what it is called. Does anyone recognize this lure?

Vanford 3000 Arrived Today
I just got a 2500. So far I like what I see. Smooth, quiet and light. The only thing I miss is the anti-reverse switch. Something I'll have to get used to. I'm hoping to make a few casts tomorrow. It looks like the last day before the big cold front hits the area.

Suspending Jerk Baits
A cheaper option than the 110 is the Berkley Stunna. I fished a few this past summer and did well. I have only natural colors.

Favorite Landing
I mentioned the ramp at Muncy. There was a huge boulder just a few feet off the ramp. If the water was low you would see it but if the river was up it was not visible. It was in a position that if you did not know it was there you would probably hit it. I'm pretty sure it was not there when I first started fishing that ramp and it may have tumbled into the ramp during a high water event. And to be fair high water events on the Susquehanna cause a lot of damage to ramps and access areas as opposed to lack of maintenance.
